It's probably got a release date for 2014 though... <_<

Release date is 11/11/2011. ;)

I know, that's what they tell us! And on 11/11/2011, they'll delay it until 24/12/2011. And on the 24/12/2011, they'll delay it until...

Yeah, I don't trust Bethesda...

Your comments Rusty are pretty dead on but I don't think Bethesda is nearly as bad as Valve's or Polyphony Digital!

Yeah I saw the trailer, I like the atmosphere of the game but the graphics are a bit the same as Oblivion.

Bethesda has brought out the images in the trailer are all from the Xbox360 version. Still not sure if I was gonna get it for PC or Xbox360, but I think I'm gonna go with the console version.

Here's the tweet from Skyrim's community manager: http://twitter.com/n...15330838188032#

You can expect the PS3 version with slightly worse graphics as with almost all multiplatform games. PC will be the best in terms of graphics obviously, if you have the PC to handle it.

...Going back a bit

It ruined the feeling of progress in Oblivion for me.

What I felt ruined the real progress of Oblivion was the way that good weapons were so easy to come by; instead of spending your first day saving up for a steel cuirass (as I feel it should be), within the first few hours I had bought Benirus Manor, killed all the evil inside with an almost-one-shot-kill staff, become listener of the Dark Brotherhood and discovered Fin Gleam at the bottom of the sea. I didn't really feel I had accomplished anything at all.

Why would you get it for a console, mods were the best thing about oblivion.

Because I don't really care for mods, and I prefer 42", a couch, and a controller with force feedback.

But mods drastically increase the replay value because when you are bored with the game and have finished all the quests, gotten all the spells, weapons... etc. You can just get more!!! It's like getting loads of free expansion packs and being able to make your own.

I had a folder on my hard drive for Oblivion mods. I ended up with something like 20 GB of mods. Great fun was had!

The irony is that Oblivion was rated teen and they changed it to mature. Tell your mom, that if you can play Oblivion, you can play Skyrim.

Seriously? Your mum won't let you have it? Show her some of the vids and reviews when it comes out and explain to her that you are mature enough to understand that it's a fantsy game etc, etc, etc,... And if that doesn't work, then tell her to talk to me and I'll set her straight, one parent to another!

On topic: Did you see the E3 video? There's a bit where the player is walking with mammoths (?) and giants when suddenly a dragon dives down and makes off with a giant from beside you! Wow! It really seems like they have done a good job on the dragons...

I doubt very much that it will be a straight port... Bethesda generally look after PC's and add in extra eye-candy and higher-spec-than-console options so I'm pretty sure that a better than average card will be necessary... it was for Oblivion after all.

Bethesda keep PC hardware in mind when working on their engines. Fallout 3 is good proof, the game looks 2x as good on PC as it does on Xbox.

No doubt Skyrim is aimed towards consoles, that's where the money is.

But I think Bethesda will still give lots of attention for the PC version.

I hope they fix their dam scripting language... who the hell came up with the idea of "set x to 1"?????

Truly the worst language I have ever worked with... it didn't even have loops, strings or arrays... Posted Image

I swear that if they don't give it one hell of an overhaul - I will write my own compiler!

Are you serious? You're only interested in the modding capabilities? What has the world come to? I come from a time when modding games was almost an impossibility.

Anyway, here's a quote from Todd Howard himself:

So much had changed that we decided to call the engine and editor by a new name, the Creation Engine and the Creation Kit. We can't wait to see what all the brilliant mod makers do with these tools.

Their editor is designed for the PC (obviously) so therefore I believe that there is sufficient evidence to believe that the game engine will work and play amazingly well as well as look amazing on PC ;)

I am interested in the gameplay too you know - I usually have 1 character that becomes super powerful (after loads of preparation) ... and then I just end up modding. The gameplay does make a big difference to me.

For this game I hope it will be.. More difficult..

Once I got vampirism, and arch mage, I simply made a stealth spell and walk past each enemy. Having total magic immunity helped, too I guess. Also I hope they make actually combat worthwhile later on. From hour 30+ there wasn't anything I gained anymore other than finishing quests. Maybe a better loot system?

If you only played Oblivion 30 hours, and couldn't find the difficulty slider, you're doing it wrong

Even the full difficulty isn't that hard, the AI is just... so... damn...

Melee fighters run in with this consistent inability to actually use a weapon while archers sit back and shoot their own guys. There just is no challenge.

I only have Morrowind for PC and trust me, I've modded the living hell out of that.

Morrowind,
oh how thy doth love thou.

Edit:
Oblivion isn't as good a game anyway, I wouldn't waste the time of day trying to fix it.

You guys never heard of Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul? Warcry? Martigens Monster Mod? If not then look them up on the Tes Nexus, get a copy of the Oblivion Mod Manager and be prepared for a whole new game... Posted Image

I only have Morrowind for PC and trust me, I've modded the living hell out of that.

Morrowind,
oh how thy doth love thou.

Edit:
Oblivion isn't as good a game anyway, I wouldn't waste the time of day trying to fix it.

Ooh, I loved Morrowind too! But trust me, with those three mods (and qarls texture pack 3) Oblivion becomes the game it should have been. Lets hope Bethesda has learned this too for Skyrim!
