FPS weapon range damage equations?

for example when the barrel blows up

if distance_to_object(obj_barrel_exp)<65 {health-=200/distance_to_object(obj_barrel_exp)}

Here's my shotgun.

if point_distance(x,y,obj_player.x,obj_player.y) < 125
hp-=125-point_distance(x,y,obj_player.x,obj_player.y)

I think I need a better equation?
but anyway someone knows any ways for a sub machine gun or improvements, suggestions?

hp -= 125/point_distance(x, y, obj_player.x, obj_player.y);

Depens on how large your character is...
Lets just say 1px = 1cm, then the shotgun would reach 1.25m, which is kind of unrealistic.
