I came across the Clean up YoYoGames day topic here at the GMC, I got curious and clicked the link to the YYG forums. Since the Java attack the GMC had recently, I have the Java console pop up automatically when I visit a site with Java content. To my suprise, the console window popped up as I loaded the page. I couldn't see any Java applets on that page, so I wonder if the YYG forums have been hacked like the GMC.

I decided not to load the YYG forums again so I posted this here.

Or did I miss an obvious and undoubtedly useful Java applet on the YYG forums?

I did so too, found that Java appeared at the task bar and exited immediately (running a virus scan now). I'm not sure if something at YoYoGames site uses java, but there's certainly something fishy about it. The previous time Chrome reported about a threat it was the GMC under attack. Especially with so little time having passed from the previous attacks I wouldn't cancel out YoYoGames being under attack at all.

Well, I'm very lucky I saw this topic, I was just about to visit YYG. I'm not about to go through that s**t again(I'm not exactly sure, but I think it was the GMC hack that screwed up my computer pretty bad, so I almost lost everything). I hope whoever is doing this burns in hell and suffers for the rest of there meaningless pathetic existence.

EDIT: I just put my browser in High Security mode and went to YoYoGames, and there was some text just above the "spotlight"(or something like that)thing that said "Please enable Java Script to use YoYoGames.", and the forums werent functional without it, so I assume its using Java Script somewhere.

Yes, Javascript is very common in web pages, I'd be suprised if you hadn't seen that warning. It's used for a lot of things, for instance adding tags into the reply box. But Javascript is relatively harmless, it can only do things inside a web page, and it's not what I was talking about. I saw the Java console, Java is a much more powerful language used for more advanced things inside a web page. It's not something used everywhere, and I see no good reason for it being on the YYG website.

Most of the time, those things don't put a virus on your computer, but collect information from it. The antivirus is supposed to protect it from running in the first place so it wont be able to get any data from your PC.
