What a guy! How well you secure your game on a site is very important. I would say use legal action, but if he's been doing this for years, he obviously has a way around it. Maybe he expected you to never notice.. I read something about Google being able to remove sites that violate copyright laws, but I think that is towards the actual design of a website.

I am almost tempted to download this "Award winning browser" and see how much of a firefox copy it is. No one download anything and he will eventually die.

I emailed several large companies that I noticed had software stolen. (paint.net, firefox, microsoft)
If they really care, he will be done in no time.

Open Source does absolutely not mean free to sell to others and claim as your own. In fact, open source doesn't have to mean free for private use, but it often does.

Haha yeah so I've read. I actually own that game, it was part of the Humble Indie Bundle (or at least that's how I assume I got it). Took me a while to get into it, but once I did it was actually quite fun. It's a shame to hear of things like this happening.

His wife's name seems to change, but their 'kids' remain the same.

See? Let that be a lesson to everyone - copyright theft leads to divorce.

Or let's just call it bad karma instead.

Total jackass indeed. In the end, it's all about the buyers. People should know their salesperson's background as internet can't be trusted.

You're confusing "can" and "may". ;)

Obviously, he can do it. But legally, he may not do it.

He apparently now uses a very professional logo... a squashed Dell laptop?

And he thinks he made Paint.NET, whatever that block game's called (I've seen it before but I forgot the actual name), and... firefox. Of course. He claims his project started 'in Fall 2000, based off a mozilla browser project' - which is why it's just Firefox 3.6 with a changed logo and his name splashed across it.

I've also played that "Block and Roll" game before. I don't know who made it, but I have played it before. Not the style of game, that game. I think it was made in Flash.

Yep, it was made in Flash, and it's called Bloxorz.

Has he been sued yet?

Why would anyone waste their time -- and legal fees -- doing that?

What would they collect? His trailer home? His '92 Chevy pickup with the duct tape on the seats?

I think a group of people that have stuff on here could each add a small amount towards legal fees and then sue him. I am sure there are plenty of people that would love to see him off the internet.

Wow, that really sucks that somebody stole your freeware game and tried to sell it. What an idiot!

In the future, Ofuscate your games when building the release executable, and apply the Anti-Decompiler to deter lamers like Mike Hardy. :medieval:

Why waste their money? Even if they won, I doubt they'd collect anything. It's unlikely he has any money/property to lose. And he'd just be back again later, doing it again.

He's pathetic, but I think he's pretty harmless.

Is his "Creative Paint" email account. Man, i hate people like him.

Edit: hmmm. Is it either me, or is his "creative paint" look a lot like Paint.net?

Paint.NET is owned by microsoft right...?

Why would Microsoft develop a free alternative to their own paint program?

The answer is in the name. Paint.net was created to promote and demonstrate the .net framework.

No, it wasn't. It was originally created as a project by a student at Washington University.

It is true that one of the lead developers also works for Microsoft, but Paint.NET is not affiliated with Microsoft in any way.
