It's not entirely based on left-clicking, it consists of 50~80% trial and error and key-lock mechanics.Monkey Island?
I don't think there is such a thing as a quality game based entirely on left-clicking.
Glad to hear news about the comp not being forgotten, by the way.

Soo... when did the results of round 3 come again?
Judgment is underway - I believe Mike mentioned in a comment why YYG wants to prioritise work on iOS (not a discussion for this topic). Since there's more people judging this round (given it's now stiffer competition), nearly everyone in the office has to drop what they're doing to play 40-odd games thoroughly enough AND decide which games to put through - for some of us, there is a lot of work that really needs to be done, so it has to come first.

edit: yeah, thats pretty much everything we heard about the subject

Having seen the competition, I know that the only chance my game will win is if the other games have more dull/slow/non-fun gameplay compared to mine. 'tis highly subjective, but I'd say it's near impossible to combine a "deep" (as in saying, questions violence/talks about the afterlife) story-based game with real fun gameplay, even though the gameplay of this game might indeed be polished. (Iji is probably the best bet for a game like that, but after all the best GM game ever is an - positive - anomaly)
I say, as usual, as Shigeru Miyamoto: "If people are interested in a good story, they should read a book."

Something about the way you said that just stuck me funny. I can see Mike walking around the office yelling at the employees:nearly everyone in the office has to drop what they're doing to play 40-odd games
Stop wasting time with GM development and get back to playing games, you lazy bums!
Then when NAL gets home at night:
NAL's wife: Hi honey. How was your day?
NAL: Damn, that Mike is a slave driver. He made me play 10 games today! Ten!
EDIT:
Worker's compensation official: Can I help you?
NAL: I want to file a claim for my injured wrist.
Official: Job related, right?
NAL: Yes, playing too many video games.
Official: sigh... Next!

What are you talking about? I don't see any games that went to Round 3?For some reason, I prefer the wait-while-judgment-happens over knowing the results; since right now every single game has simultaneously passed on to round 3 and lost (See Schrödinger's Cat) - which is more comforting than knowing that your game's lost.[/i]

You are aware that Game Testing is a feasible career and requires lots of work and dedication? Playing for leisure is much different than judging/reviewing/testing a game. It requires a keen eye and a lot of time. Don't assume that testing all these games will only be fun, although if the competitors did a good job, it should be.

I seem to recall in my elementary years when all the boys were adamant to be a game tester as an adult in order to play free games for pay. I couldn't bring myself to tell most of them that it wasn't just playing for amusement, mostly because it took too long to explain than they were interested to listen. The reality series, The Tester, is a weird show that superficially relates to various skills in testing though. You are aware that Game Testing is a feasible career and requires lots of work and dedication? Let's nip this in the bud. I was making a joke, based on the funny/ironic comment that NAL made. You are aware that Game Testing is a feasible career and requires lots of work and dedication?
I support YoYo Games, their business plan, and their games competition. I wasn't making fun of YYG, or of "game testers". They are valuable members of society and I respect them.
I might even allow my daughter to marry one.

SIGH! You didn't even read the link to Wikipedia I posted for a quick summary of what Schrödinger's Cat is! If you had done that, you would've understood my quite advanced comment. (And yes, I know about Schrödinger's Cat from before and by heart)

Yal, this is the GMC! Subtlety is not the strong point of this forum... and Newkill, look for books by John Gribbin (particularly "In Search Of Schrodinger´s Cat") for an easy introduction to the facinating world of Quantum Mechanics...
PS: Still no news about the comp...

There's a rumour that Schrodinger's cat is one of the guest judges. The cat was assigned 6 games to play, but nobody can be sure whether he's played them... or not played them.Still no news about the comp...
If this is true, it will really delay the winner announcement.

Oh no. I got the joke and I know it was more based around the way NAL said it, or typed it rather, but still I am tired of people belittling Videogame Careers as all play and no work. If it was that way then everyone who has ever played games would be doing it. I know that you aren't necessarily under that opinion, but the jokes you made come up alot and as a student of Game Design I just get tired of it all.
And you're a bigger man than my girlfriend's dad. (Just kidding, he and I are cool =P)
