I always wanted to be able to zoom out so I can see more of a large room in the creator. I don't know if it has been done, or if it can be done. If someone has made it possible, I'd appreciate a link to download the needed software, or you could tell me how to do it if it's relatively simple. Thanks a lot!

Not possible.

Not quite, if I understand what he's asking he can use a built in application called "Magnifier".

Write your own level editor. Program in the view functions, so you can zoom in/out.

Not possible.

It IS possible. Be careful and think before you say such a thing.

In fact, you don't even have to write your own program. LateralGM allows you to zoom out.

No, it isn't. He's asking if it's possible to zoom out in the built in room creator.

Guess what? It isn't.

the creator

...:)

OK then, have it your way. I'm not going into that sort of discussion. But "Not possible" isn't really a constructive answer, especially if there are alternatives.

LateralGM isn't a full solution; I heard from IsmAvatar that it can only produce GM6 files.

I was asking if it was possible to change the built in editor, I know you can't zoom in/zoom out on it now, I posted this in the EXTENDING GameMaker section for a reason. So, is there another external room editor that can make GM8 rooms, and if not, is there any advice or instructions anyone could give me in making my own editor? (what software to use, how to get it to work with
GM, maybe ideas for features?)

Use GM if you can't write any other language. You will need to come up with a file format and load it using files.
