Tried it, really hoping you'll actually put some work into the control system instead of worrying about song issues...

I remember God of Rock 1, but I couldn't play God of Rock .
It downloaded in a .rar file.
Is there any way to change it?

The game looks nice, but was really hard to play.
You should have difficulty levels like Guitar Hero.
Well, besides the difficulty, I liked it.

Here are my complaints after trying it:

-Notes take near-perfect centering to hit.
-The first song is extremely hard, maybe because it's not played on a guitar?
-A high-score table would be nice.
-Every so often, the game will crash at the end of a song (maybe it's just my computer)
-The sound is a bit too loud compared to most games.
-No star power,hammer-ons, score multipliers, or working rock meter (but this is just a WIP, so no big deal)

Compliments:

-Sound quality was good.
-Graphics were nice.
-You have a system that works decently.

Suggestions:

-Test things to see if they satisfy you before you release them.
-Songs with a range of difficulties.
-Work a bit on the range it takes to hit a note, it's a little too small.

Ah yes. That will be integrated in the next version. Guitar Hero already has all four difficulties in the note file actually. The game just does not read them yet.

Thanks for playing. The game supports HoPos already actually. They are made automatically they are the ones with the black circle in the middle. They have a even smaller timing window though so they can be hard to hit so I can see where the hopos would be hard. And the difficulty support will be coming soon. Guitar Hero has all four difficulties charted actually. The game just supports only Expert right now. Also, Riku does have guitar. It's a acoustic guitar. Also, I am brainstorming a way to make Star Power to work now.

you should use:
F1 F2 F3 F4 F5 as the frets, then enter as strum. so then they can hold the keyboard like a guitar!

I would but I have problems with that layout. My keyboard cost $5 dollars and does not work well with those keys. God of Rock 1 supported custom key setups but was removed in this version.

It's not very universal when you think of it if it dosent work with cheap keyboards.

Maybe make the notes stay on the track? there going off the edge, just make the track a little larger. It would be nice if you could change the keys used for fretting and such, i use a regular keyboard so i could hold it up XD

What was bad about it? There is nothing bad about it. I assure you. It meets every demand a GH Clone is supposed to except a couple only a extreme Guitar Hero fan would notice. And it's still a WIP!! Sheesh!! Also, the compatibility has nothing to do with me. You have to bring that issue up with YYG.

Latest version... Coming soon...
Change log -

Version 1.1:
-Added Gundora Workshop
-Added Preview to song list
-Added new "Quick-Loading" Icon
-Replaced the Menu Music
-Widened the timing window
-Hopos now have a bigger diffirence in appearance to normal notes
-Fixed error at the end of songs
-Added multiplier

Working on it. It's ready to release now actually. I don't feel though I've added enough yet though. The change log is posted up somewhere for the upcoming version. What songs would you like though? I have all the songs from Guitar Hero 1 - Guitar Hero: Rocks The 80s if you would like any of those. I have a couple of Rock Band songs too. And yes, the game will support drums!

Well, the stuff i mentioned earlier. It doesn't meet every demand a GH Clone is supposed to have especially to extreme Guitar hero fans. Such as hammer on/offs, long notes, crappy sound, no star power, no super easy score multipliers, etc...

Even though its a wip, you claim it to be a lot better than it is. I would start with functionality, like score multipliers. Then star power, then long notes, hammeron/offs, in that orderish, then fix the face of it.

Examine the game more closely before you talk about the features it does not have. For the last time, it does have long notes, hammer ons and multipliers. The multipliers are not in that version but have been added so your statement is negated. ^_^ And trust me, it is the best on the GMC that has been released so far. NONE of the GH Clones I have played so far even have separate guitar tracks.

I am probably one of the best Guitar Hero Players on the GMC so I'd know if it meets the requirements and I'm saying it DOES. All it needs is Star Power.

LOL your right. Don't know what was up that day. I just don't like people telling me what's wrong with my games when they barely say anything good about it. Especially, when the information is NOT VALID. It's not constructive criticism when you have the features already!! This if the 4th time I've had to say my game has those features already (counting the time when you just technically said it)!!

Alright, some cool songs:

New Divide. (Linkin Park)

In the End. (Linkin Park)

Wake Me up When September Ends. (Green Day)

Devil Went Down To Georgia. (Charlie Daniels, have the rock version.)

I'm a major LP and GD fan, but I do think those songs would be fun.

Version 1.4 is almost ready to be released. Here is the changelog:
-Introduced Rock Shop.
(It's avalible via the Main Menu)
-Fixed a couple menu bugs and glitches.
-Tweaked the shop mechanics
-Added new menu background
-Completely rewrote main menu code

I have some questions though. Would you like items other than songs available for download? The items are purchased with Rock Points, would you like them to be obtained ONLY from good performance on songs or from mini-games as well that you'd have to pay (in-game) cash to play.

XD005 are you ever going to answer my PM?
Anyways back on topic.
I think you should multiply the number of stars X10 per song so if they get 5 stars they get 50. But if they get perfect and get the five GOLD stars, they get 100.
Oh and not "Buy" songs. It should be "Tutored". The tutor shows you how to play the song. And In-Game now it is unlocked.

EDIT : I just realised about the double post. But I posted this a few days ago.

@shadowrend

You can convert to some special file types by running it through notepad, Scripts, or a .Bat converter, and others. I don't blame him/her for not telling us. I'm trying to import the idea of feedback into an engine. But, I have problems. She must of had problems too because you can look at there topics and find different things about them. I've seen XD005 in different topics by random. But you HAVE to credit her I think even if you did it another method. He/She found out a way to use Feed Back for a GM Guitar game. That would bring up the idea. Try finding her content. That should help.

If XD005 doesn't like my post I can remove it. This is her topic so...

Part 2 : File Encryption. You can save text as any file. Bat, TXT, Dat, or even save it as your own file type. But I think she ran it through notepad like I tried to do with my .POS files.
She must of encrypted it because I was matching checks with my chart of Battery. Always good to have protection. :)

Hehe... Like XD005 said earlier "There is something in the extending Game Maker forum" she means there are scripts to encrypt them. But there are tons. You would have to reverse the coding. The only thing I don't know is how she got the music AND the text into one file....

EDIT:Maybe I should try opening it with notepad...

EDIT 2: New Links....

RAR - Download

ZIP - Download

EDIT 3 : The above link are version 1.0 ONLY. Not 1.2, or 1.3. Expect some crap until next release. Now that there is something way better, this is crap. ICW for it to release.

UPDATE:

Sorry, it's been a while. I've been busy working, with my Tutor, figuring out the setlist, and starting up a couple other side projects. Well anyways, I've got bad news. I tried to integrate support for custom songs and messed up the engine. I am currently in the process of rewriting probably 25% of the engine. The engine wasn't even 100% Complete when I posted the last demo. Well, expect the rewrite to be complete between this time frame: August 15th - October 8th.

@mrpeanut:
Yup. It's all been packed into one file. All information of what song it is, artist, album, the playable tracks, and the data for the notes, AND the audio, is all in the pak files. The title and artist info is only read for DLC. In Career mode, it is checked to make sure you didn't swap any songs with another. I have not tested if that even stops you from playing another song in place of another but hopefully so.

And yes there are scripts in the forum to encrypt them. I'd rather not say which one I used for security reasons...

Well everyone, God of Rock 1.4 is finally done. I actually got pretty lucky and figured out the problem quite quickly in the engine. Here is the list of changes:

Version 1.4:
-Introduced Rock Shop.
(It's avalible via the Main Menu)
-Fixed a couple menu bugs and glitches.
-Tweaked the shop mechanics
-Added new menu background
-Update to some minor graphics as well as menu graphics and backgrounds
-Added functionality to allow DLC to be loaded.
-Chord issue solved. Chords no must be played completely accurate now
-Fretboard graphics were redesigned
-New, more versatile syncing engine
-Saving system tweaked
-Game now uses different fonts
-Splash sprite removed
-Rock Meter added
-Added low pass filter on audio when Rock Meter is low

This version also includes a little treat for you guys for being so patient with the release of 1.4. I've included one DLC song, "Seven Nation Army" it's unfortunately a cover and instrumental but it's better than no DLC. The shop has also been introduced in this version. I encourage everyone to check it out. Your going to have to check back later right now though since there is nothing in the shop. I think the game even tells you that. The shop is pretty versatile. Songs can have a specific price, require a promo code to buy, or require Dancing Inferno 2 to be installed. You will have to pay with "Rock Points" however. You will also be able to exchange (in-game) Cash for Rock Points. Cash is planned on being used for a entirely different purpose. Which is buying new songs in the in-game store (there will be two, the online and the offline), buying new Fretboards, unlocking new animation sets, and buying music videos (this feature will not be avalible in the GMC version since it will take up too much space, but I could have it link you to a YouTube video.), missions, and perhaps online titles. We'll have to see if I can finally get around to making online. My dad just bough a laptop so I should be able to use his to test it. But yeah, I plan on putting in missions. Like beat the song "color-blind", beat the song with the Paparazzi taking photos of you, sudden death, perfectionist, and some other things if I can come up with more.

I'm always open to anymore ideas if anybody has any by the way.

Now that 1.4 has been released, all of the main bugs have been worked out. The next version will be coming out soon as well. In this version I plan to bring in challenges, star power, the ability to lose, the ability to name your band (account data), and multi-core support. I just got a quad-core processor so I've been slacking off a bit on the programming.

I really hate to double-post and bump but could I please get some feedback on the newest version so I know what needs to be corrected, introduced, or tweaked in the next version?

I was so into it I didn't notice the track bottom wasn't moving. Really, I think this is one of the best GM games ever made. I tried to help fix up the engine with the author, but It was a little to advance. The coding is extremely nice. Not exactly neat but, very reliable. Like link said, you still need a little work in the control system.

When notes are like this :

| | |
. . .
| | |

And they overlap you see them toggle on/off. And I got a variable error with the Pop song, and it didn't end but DANG....... Nice.
I say this in truth not just to make you feel nice XD.

EDIT : Also you need to work on song endings. It lags 3-4 frames for me, it goes around 25-28, but when I close the folder I open to load the file, it goes around 28-30.

EDIT 2 : I'm working on the needle thing

The needle thing? You don't have to anymore if you don't want to. I added a needle in 1.4. I'll still ad you to the credits because you tried though but you don't have to do anything else.

Also, I'm aware of the fact that GOR's songs never end. There is no code to show a results screen or anything yet. And the last couple of notes can't be hit due to a error.
