When you first look at Loltrix' topic, you might think that it is "yet another prank game". But it isn't. This game is an interesting arcade shooter, comparable with Space Invaders. When the game starts, you get the exact same text that was in the topic. At first sight it looks like it was written by a 6-year-old who didn't know what he was doing, but after you play the game, it all makes sense.

The goal in Loltrix is rather simple. You have to protect the earth from its enemies by shooting them. Except that the earth is represented by a line of text, the enemies look like this: "LOL" and your only weapon is an "OMG!" shooting "LMAO" beams. I found the text-based environment a very nice approach to making a game. It fits Loltrix quite well, not to say that it actually adds in the game's value. It was only after a few playthroughs, that I noticed that something was missing: sound. It's sad that there isn't any sound or music in the game because I think that it would definitely make it even more "epic".

Another thing that I noticed after those few playthroughs, is that it is quite hard to get a decent score in Loltrix. After killing the first few enemies, the "DIFICULTYES" raised very fast making it almost impossible to kill all the enemies before they reach "T-ARTH-D1RTZORZ-ERTH-D1RT-ARTH-D1RTZORZ-ERTH-D1RT-ARTH-D1RTZORZ-ERTH-D1RT-ARTH-D". This hardness makes it so that you constantly want to beat your last high score just to see whether you can do better.

This strange game is very fun to play. It may turn out being not that easy, but that's something that keeps you playing. While writing this review I tried beating my personal record of 2900, which seems impossible for now. I'll give it another try tomorrow and I hope that I can beat it then.

Two things;

No game topic link, that I could find anyway. Link.1
And my highest score (and only score) was 6300.

Anywho, very good review. Descriptive, and well I can't see anything to add to this or take away, except that link. :)
I'm glad this game uses "LMAO beams" instead of "F Bombs," because those are cliche.

1EDIT:

I found teh game link. Click on the image which says LOLTRIX at the very top of the review!

Oh, I didn't notice that there.

This is one of the rare games, where someone makes something simple, but amazingly creative.

I'll add the links in a more striking way :) .

Good review. It isn't as in-depth as I usually prefer, but this is a case where it doesn't really require that depth. Well done!

What are you talking about, GStick? How could you possibly give more depth to this? Add a video?

EDIT:

so step back.

*eep!* :(

Guess I'll add more depth to my own post. :(

I prefer reviews to be really intricate. Every detail needs to be laid out in front of me to be read. That's what I enjoy in a review. Sadly, a lot of reviews don't go into all those tiny details. This one didn't get nit-picky about the information that was given, but did so in a way that was really nice to read and told you what you wanted to hear. In this case, the review is actually better without all those details I usually prefer. It isn't as in-depth, but in no way did I say it was a problem for this review.

I gave it 4/5, so step back.

This is not the type of game I would review... very slow paced and boring. Sorry, but I do not share the love for this game that you do, samscam ;)

Am I the only one who thinks that comments regarding the review are more frequent than the game as annoying?

Anyways, this game was pretty fun and I never probably would've found it without this review. Loved the chatspeak, good research on that part.

It's good, but becomes literally impossible to get to the next enemy in time later on in the game.
