Solved! I found a DLL to convert BMP to PNG, and this eliminates the transparency problem! Thanks for your help, guys!

Well, that's a workaround, but would still be nice to figure out the root of the original problem. BMP shouldn't have transparency unless a transparency color has been set. Will have to look at this a bit more when I have time.

I think it is an internal problem with game maker 8, because they redesigned their entire sprite system, and this seems to only happens with BMP's. It is good that you want to find out more about the problem, in case other people have the same problem, and can't just change to PNG's. Maybe this topic should stay open, until this can be confirmed or fixed.

I'm having this EXACT SAME PROBLEM with GM8! Are you using screensave.dll? It works great in GM7 but it only works in GM8 if the opaque setting is on. What is the .dll you used to transform it from .bmp to .png?

Im using the same dll, so that might be the problem, but the images it makes seem to turn out alright anyway, until there loaded into gm.
