Can you run other Windows programs on a PS2 (even just NotePad) ?

In short : No. There are too many differences between even the hardware (let alone software) of the two to make that possible.

you can get them on psp, in instant play with some covax thing and you can convert gm6 to java. I am not allowed to post this(i think) or talk about it(pretty sure i am). Google is your friend...

*The psp thing was a way old psp app that loaded gm games. I could never get it to work because i never knew the what the containing folder was supposed to be named. Anyways i no longer have my psp.

If you can install Linux on a PS3, then logically you can get WINE on a PS3, and thus run GM games. Might be worth trying?

Although older models (as in, not the current PS3 Slim) can install Linux, it lacks the proper GPU hardware support. This may be alright for smaller applications, but could bring down usable performance in an emulation situation (such as using Wine).

Linux on the PlayStation 3 allows for a huge range of homebrew programs to be developed and is entirely and completely sanctioned by Sony. Although the Cell's performance is more than enough to handle most media requirements or render complex 3D graphics, it does lack the teraflops performance of a contemporary GPU's texture fetching hardware. For this reason many complex games aren't possible on the PlayStation 3 through Linux, as access to hardware acceleration in the RSX is restricted by a hypervisor.
