Hey! This is my latest sprite: Posted Image

I couldn't come up with an idea for a costume so I took the costume from this: Posted Image

I'm trying to make a sheet with a lot of these characters that are suppose to make up a collection. What are your opinions on this sprite? Please tell me for improvement, thank you!

Sincerely,

~S&H

Long time no see S&H! :GM126:

I'm really, really impressed by your pixel work, you've obviously come a long way. ::lmao::

As I said, the pixel work, in my opinion, is really good, and I like his 'stance'. The thing I 'don't' like, is the way the arms&hands are just kinda sticking out like a scarecrows. He looks like he's shrugging his shoulders :D

Make it more natural.. unless your character is meant to be shrugging his shoulder :GM131: Also, I think his arms seem a little short? I'm not sure, could be the pose.

I'm not a spriter, though, so hopefully you can get good feedback from someone who knows his stuff ^_^

I think you should, just for the sake of it make this a multiple of 2's (64x72) Unless I'm wrong it's 65x72. If you need the space don't be afraid to go bigger either.

You put a lot of detail into the costume that might not be readable enough, as well the head looks a bit like you had to squish it in. Don't be afraid to exaggerate parts of the sprite to make them show up a little better. If this were my sprite I would add some outline to the head and hair since the blond and skin color sort of seep together and the face needs a bit more pop.

Other than that the body is in good proportion, although the arms would look better at a more natural position.

Well I didn't spend much time on this and it's 30 colors since I was editing something lossy

I admit I haven't done any male sprites this size so the arms are wonky, anyways it's an example. If you keep working at it your pixel art could be really good.

hey soul and heart, didnt i work with you in a sprite shop?

also what i think is thats its a great sprite, but you have to outline the details, just make it pop out, use lighter and darker colors, add some contrast. other than that its a very nice sprite and id love to see the completed results

Yes puffball, you did work in my sprite shop once.

Takes for that suggestion maybe I will try darker and lighter colors.

EDIT: I added the update to the sprite on the first post. Any other changes? I think his arm is still a bit un-natural. What do you guys think?

I'd say edit's are louder than words :)
Posted Image
1. Try using hue-shifting. Instead of just taking the skin color and making it darker why not make it a different type of color, like a darker pink.
2. Shoulders~ If you look at your body i'm pretty sure your shoulders arent that close up to your neck.
3. Too many colors, it was hard to edit because of all the different colors, that weren't necessarily needed.

There's probably more things to look at, but just study the edit :)

in my opinion the only thing that i'd recommend changing in the design in first post is your palette. other then that i'd say its great. i really like the stance, you did that well.
