With my group members, we work on a project in which we need driving simulation. We also need to use driving simulator hardware. while the programming part of simulation is easy, we get trouble about whether Game Maker supports this kind of hardwares or not. I thought it can be done by using .dll files. Can anyone help please??? unsure.gif

By driving simulator hardware, I meant one of them like this:

Aren't you ment to post only DLLs here, not questions?!? Should this be in one of the questions sections?!?

Wrong section.

To answer the question: Most steering wheel controllers actually use the same/similar drivers as joysticks. That said GM handles them the same way it handles a joystick. Perhaps not all work with GM's joystick functions, but I know some (mine) do.

You'll have to run some tests to figure out which buttons/levers/wheels are which axis/button in GM though.

For example my wheel has a toggle for 2-3 axis. In 2 axis mode, the wheel is X, the break is +y and the gas is -y.

Hmm... I see. Thanks for reply. This project we work on is needed to be done with a steering wheel controllers. we will modify it later. thanks so much. Also,
Its written that questions can be asked in this part. I get confused whether a dll file will be needed or not for using these machines.

When it comes to questions, the rule of thumb is, "When in doubt, post in the Novice and Intermediate forum". Questions in the Extending Game Maker forum are more for the purpose of asking about an already made extension.
