Hello everyone! This is my first finished GM7 game (I have several unfinished).

YoshiKart is an arcade type game in which you control Yoshi in a kart (obviously :P ) and you try to survive through various courses with a wide variety of enemies, worlds, and bosses.

Features include:

- 7 worlds

- Over 40 courses in the main mode

- 2 special modes that you unlock for beating the game (Boss Rush and Turbo Mode (in turbo mode you replay the game but you move 150% faster, also there are no bosses to face in this mode))

- 3 secret hidden tracks with backgrounds I drew (I think I hid them pretty well :skull: )

- 2 new mini-games!

- Lots of different enemies each with different behaviors

- Unique, fun, and addicting gameplay

The race with Bowser!

Here it is, please comment on what I could improve on, I just may make a sequel :)

Ok since you no one has posted I will.

This game is not bad! I like it.
The collisions work well( you don't get stuck in walls..or atleast i didnt see any)
Movement works well

Here is some suggestions!

Polish it up! Put him on an actual road with actual hazards. Right now it looks very unpolished.
Create some more features like power ups and such.

I like it with a little work this could fun! Keep up the good work!

Thank you for the feedback, I'm glad you like it

I might add some power-ups, I was thinking of adding a fireflower and making it so you have to wilt pirahna plants to pass into certain areas and other things like that. Maybe also a short invincibility power-up.

I will think about your suggestions, hard to tell if I will add them into this game or just put them in a sequel, I'm not sure yet.

You should always include at least 1 measly screenshot of your game if you want people to try it. You have an interesting take on kart racing, but the game itself just didn't hold my attention at all. First off, whats with the bananas? Wouldn't not make more sense to use characters from Yoshi's Universe, you have the magi koopas already there, why not use bob-ombs or goombas instead of a banana guy.

The control is too limited, all i can do is move left or right. I can't change my speed or jump or anything. This makes some walls and obstacles impossible to avoid. The transition between courses really bothers me as well. A simple fade out would be much more pleasing to the eye then that nasty slide down camera movement which is jarring.

I added in a few screenies ^_^

Well in Mario Kart games a common thing to run over that slows you down is a banana. So that was the first banana thing I found in my directory and thought it would add a bit more fun to the game since it was animated. Also as you can see in the screenies, I do use bob-ombs near the end

The game is supposed to have him move at one speed without slowing down. Everyone says I should change that but that would make it a whole new game... I changed the room transition too but I am going to work on this a bit more so I will update the file later.

Thanks for the feedback.

Okay well I updated it a few days ago. I added 10 screenshots on the Yoyogames page so if you want you can scroll through those.

Letsee, I changed the room transitions to fade in like AlexAR suggested. I also added a fireflower power-up on some levels (press the up-key to shoot fireballs). Fire can kill some enemies but it is mainly for wilting pirahna plants that block your way to the finish. Another thing is I drew the gas and course name onscreen! Now it is better to play fullscreen :D

Oh another small thing is I made a custom loading image and bar.

So yeah, enjoy! :)

Bumping this because I updated it. Here's a list of imrovements:

- 2 Mini-games! ("Banana Evasion" and "Inferno")
- Boss intro logos are much higher quality, they aren't blurry anymore
- Changed the trophy at the end to one of the trophy sprites I drew on iScribble (originally were going to be for achievements but I gave up on those)
- Boss Rush and Turbo Mode each have their own trophies and the colors on the final fireworks match the trophy's color
- Removed the white around some of the logo edges (I had some more done but then GM wasn't responding and shut down so I said screw it)
- The menu is improved. It now has "Play Game," "Mini-Games," "Help," "Credits," and a link to the original version of YoshiKart on my lame pbwiki that I haven't cared about for 2 years. Oh the mini-game and top secret menus now have a back arrow to get back to the main menu
- The smoke that occurs when a fireball hits the wall is centered now
- Pirahna plants are more proportional
- Probably a few other minor things but I can't remember right now...

Have fun

This is probaly one of the best first games i've ever seen.
Most are like catch the clown but this is better.
But... there still are some bad things:
-wall placment
-boring default background
Still, other than those i'd still say its a pretty good
game.

3.5/5

Thanks for the feedback :)

And by boring default do you mean the gray background for world 1? I just used that because I didn't have anymore background textures lol

Current pc is slow and doesn't load the game but I'm sure I have seen that banana guy before on a forum. I haven't ever seen him in a Mario game (or did I miss something?)
EDIT: lol at last he decided to unexpectedly load; this game rocks!! Only I hate the gray background, make it yellow sand or something. And it would be nice if the messagebox had custom colors.
