My first completed game. Play over 40 levels, collect jewels, unlock secrets, and save your girlfriend.
Criticism welcome. Please let me know if you run into any bugs, although I've tested it thoroughly, I hope.

Glad you enjoyed it! ;) The furniture is there mostly just for looks, although there are a couple things you can get that you can use.
Have you tried timed mode? Or found any secret levels? :)

its repetitive, you need more enemies and obstacles. i only saw falling spikes, a couple of moving enemies, and water. needs more STUFF! everything else was great. the music and graphics are fine.

Nice game. The graphics and stuff are good. I like how you get the cannon in your house at the end.
I found all but one of the secret levels (assuming there is one in the dark area). I'm not interested in trying timed mode though. That's a feature that lot of creators add to their games for replay value, but I can't see many people being interested in it.
Also in your game, since the platform positions don't reset when you die, the timed mode is somewhat based on luck (or on manipulating the non-resetting platforms).

The game was too easy. It got boring sometimes.

Nice overall.

There are also moving platforms, disappearing platforms, fireballs, etc. farther into the game, but ill keep it in mind. Thanks :D

Thanks for playing. Yeah theres a secret level in the volcano world too, its probably the hardest to find.
True also, with the platforms needing some luck in timed mode although, I give more time on those.
Easy, yeah for experienced players it is, although Ive had people get frustrated with how hard the game is, so I tried balancing it out best I could.

Just thought I’d mention that I reviewed this game on the KwikLook Blog.

I had quite a bit of fun playing this, although boredom did creep in after I'd been playing for a while. It was great, for your first game - keep up the good work. :)

Yeah, this is really well made. Most platformers released here have no story and no charm. You made a good effort to establish both. Good job. The gameplay was solid and the engine seemed to work well. You forgot to disable the F1 for game info, but other than that, great job.

Dpoole, thanks alot for the review

I seem to be getting alot of the same response from people, the cons mainly being too repetitive and easy. I'll make it a main goal to change that in my next game. Just having problems deciding which game to finish next (I have about 3 well in progress...)

Anyways, thanks for the comments everyone ;)

The game didn't last long enough to get boring.

I beat it in less than two hours.

Fun anyway. :)

Was pretty fun. It could do with a few more obstacle types and enemies, but it kept me entertained enough while it lasted.

what a lovely game. altough it needs some tweaking.
but first, really liked the graphics, especially from bagman, and the tiles were also nice on the eye.
gameplay was pretty solid too, altough the head-slam felt a bit forced.
music was simple but good, and it really gave each world an own vibe.
the level-design was cool too, and I liked the out of screen warping which gave you the opportunity to make some very interesting puzzle-design. (the puzzles were easy though!)

only point which was less good;
you need some variation; like stronger bad guys, not just the same baddy again and again with a different skin.
7.5/10 add some more interesting opponents and it would be an 8.

I enjoyed testing your game:)

Very professionally done. I didn't finish as there wasn't too much incentive, but maybe sometime I'll come back sometime and finish.

Good job !

It was very fun played it up until the plastic guy then got annoyed at his random firing of bags. It was an alright platform. It was fun and stylish, it would have been nice to see more things but other then that its ok. 3 out of 5. Oh and i did really like the map menu and how can buy his furniture back. :)

4 Day bump special review! Nah I'm just kidding.

Decent game. It's not "good" because it's too repetitive. You should introduce new enemies sooner.
Every level that is in the same world looks alike, except for the castles. I would recommend you having like 3 songs per world. Need more variety in tiles,
enemies, stuff like that.

Did not play to the end because I didn't have the time to, so sorry if what I mentioned actually goes later into the game.
6.8/10 judging as a complete game.

Yes I did, everything in the game from the graphics to music and the programming.
(well, obviously theres bits and pieces of code from when I asked for help on the forum)

The only thing that isn't mine are some of the sound effects, like when the player or an enemy dies. Royalty free sounds in that cace. Although a few sounds I made using SFXR.

Awesome game, especially the bonus levels (and I loved the furniture shop thingy too. Sadly I didn't play throught it all as it is a little repetitive, there is one enemy type (AI wise I mean) as far as I saw and wasn't really challenging.

Just came across Baghead Bandits this evening, and wanted to register to let you know how much I enjoyed it! I played through it straight in one sitting, something I very rarely do with any game. I thought the difficulty was fine, not over the top but it made you think. The bonus levels were great, the kind of level design you don't see very often. It reminded me of a classic NES-style puzzler combined with touches of modern day IWBTG-style games.

Also, I felt compelled to collect every piece of furniture. Collecting/Completing is another thing I do rarely with games, but this one I enjoyed enough that I wanted to 100% it.

Great job, I would love to see a sequel! Either way, excellent work. :)

Could have been perfect.

1. Remove the mouse, it is only useful for those disgustingly ugly message dialog boxes. Create a custom dialog box, doesn't need to be fancy, just not that GM crap.
2. Make the game keyboard only, kind of the same as #1.

Otherwise this game is beautiful.
