THIS PROJECT IS NO LONGER BEING WORKED ON. INSTEAD, I AM (SLOWLY) DEVELOPING A TDS ENGINE, KNOWN AS TOTAL TDS ENGINE (TTDSE).

Title: TDS Example v2.0
Description: Includes Laser, 5 weapon types, attributes of weapons, health and ammo pick-ups, basic HUD features, minimap radar, and basic enemy A.I Line of Sight system
GM Version: GM8
Registered: Yes || No

This is the updated version of my first example...
I do not require credit for using this example but I would like to be told that you are using it in your game...

This is a simple Topdown Shooter example that gives the basics on shooting, weapon attributes, reloading, health and ammo pickups, minimap radar usage, moving, A.I Line of Sight (LoS), and laser sighting...

v2.1 Pro and v2.1 Lite are upcoming examples... v2.1 will include all features in v2.0, but the basic enemy A.I will be extended so it can move around, patrol and fight you.

Please post any bugs that will be fixed, and/or recommendations what you would like to see in v2.1 (or more specifically, v3)...
Also, please post if you thought this was a good/bad example, and what made it good/bad, and what might need improving...

Hey man thanks for sharing this is really cool, I like the laser alot. I will probly use this if I ever make a tds Thanks :)

The laser can be made more accurate (pixel perfect) but it take twice as much processing power as what is provided in the example.

Something tells me that this example isn't appreciated...
Does it really take so long that a short response (to say if its good or bad, and what it might need) is too hard to do?

Its quite good. Some suggestions could be Ammo Pick Ups, Cone of Sight, More weapons /Weaponing switching.... meh its a good example. The lazer should help me out in my current game.

(draw_sprite_ext is pro and you use it to draw the player).
You could also add an .exe to encourage others, as well as provide screenshots of the various functions of this example.

This is pretty good, especially the laser sight, I was looking for something like that. Though, it seems strange to use an entirely different object to handle reloading, then again, it isn't my example. Anyways, good work. :D

Yeah, I was thinking of doing stuff like that in v2... Glad to hear my laser sight is seemingly... um... loved?

Try changing 'draw_sprite_ext' with just 'draw_sprite'... sorry about that... I use Registered so I don't notice what does and doesn't need registered... But I can't fix it myself as GM has stopped working on my computer :)
And i decided not to add a .exe as what is the point? If people want an example, why have a file that shows you the example but doesn't let you look at the code?
And screenshots might be a good idea... but currently have no image host available to me...

It did seem a bit strange to me to have another object to handle reloading and such... and that WAS going to change in v2... but my version of GM no longer works on my computer (hopefully it'll work on my new computer)

Its nice, i like the particle effect too. Job well done.

well, I like .exes for some reason :) (partially cuz I dun have pro and I wanna see the engine in action)

anyways. you could try picoodle.com (currently imagefra.me) as I use that for all my image hosting needs.

besides all that, it looks good :)

nvm...it works for unreg if you cange draw_sprite.exe to draw_sprite, and change draw_line_color to draw_line. :whistle:

v2 will include fire rate ability, but v1 doesn't. I've PMed you the solution.
