Pokemon TCG

Posted Image

Some of you might know the classic pokemon TCG game, if you do, this is going to like you ( if you dont, i reccomend it  ) this an attemt to make that game but in the pc, to play online with your friends, using that beautiful deck you always wanted to have ^^

A few tips before you start playing:
_feel free to send me bug reports, ask anything or just play <_<
_The complete game with all card sets included, weights about 400Mb, so dont feel shocked :)
_The game is not automatic, you must set the damage counters, move te cards, specify the attacks, etc..
_If you dont have a card your oponnent does have, it just wont be displayed, and if you modify an image you will be the only one who will see it that way.

Site and updates
Download
Updated on 11/08! (about 5mb)

To play join the newworks listed in the welcome screen of the game, use the server's ip (shown in hamachi, not you pc's addres!) as the ip to join

Credits:
to Pokebeach.com for the card scans.
to hobbl for his Dowload manager DLL.
to Roach (TangibleLime) for his Netread DLL.

have fun ^^

BETA state removed, now the game is complete, ive added a 3 hours updater so you can periodically check for new card sets (seriously, made up in 3 hours, so beware of bugs and glitchs ).
If the updater doesnt work you can always check in HERE for news and updates

The game seems cool, but when I play with my cousin, it lags too much(no, we do not have 56k internet :P). For example, I move a card here and on his computer it didn't show at all or, sometimes, show later. We are using hamachi, and every other games that we play are completely normal, and I can ping him and he can ping me and all... Do you have any idea why this happen? (Doesn't matter if I'm the one who hosts or if he is... later I'll try to play with my sister that is connected in LAN with me, just to see if it lags.... then I edit the post).

you can still use regular IP's, but hamachi is better because you dont need to port foward and there is already a network so you can find oponnents...
An AI requires a database of every single card and i dont pretend to do that, plus, it should be extremely complicated...

This is totally awesome, I've been looking everywhere for some way to play online. I'm a hardcore tcg fan.

I even started to try to make my own game, but I was going to have it playable, not just D+D. It didn't go too well. I gave up.

Glad we have this though.

It seems good so far, made two decks n stuff.
I haven't played yet, getting a friend set up right now, but I'll tell you how it goes.

I do have some suggestions though, and I hope you're willing to do them, they aren't hard.
  • Make the window re sizable/maximizable. This would be very good. (I can send you the code if you need it)
  • Prizes shouldn't be drawn until after you make sure you have a basic in your hand (Why? Well my deck only has 7 basics... you can see how this could be a problem)
  • There should be an easier way to mulligan(shuffle hand into deck because of no basics), or just shuffle you hand into your deck in general. Like a button.
  • Does it not let you evolve benched pokemon... or is it just me?
  • There are some set's you obviously don't have, such as southern islands (#10), and a bunch of other promo sets. I have SI, the first promo set, and the "Best of" promo sets, I could zip em and send them to you if you want to add those.
  • This would be more of a luxury feature, but I think it would be nice if when someone played a card that you don't have a copy of, there could be a download button on the card so that person could add it. It's not really needed, but would be helpful. Or if the file was corrupt it could fix it. Maybe?
  • I know pokebeach is missing some scans, did you get replacements for these? I know either the holo or non holo was mr. mime from jungle was missing, so if you just DLed them all it might not have it.
  • A marker for who's turn it is?
  • Communication? I mean skyping or IMing isn't impossible, but... (IMing would be easier if the window could resize)

But seriously, you're awesome and this rocks. Like redshark but not suck.

wow, this is nicee, lets go!

Make the window re sizable/maximizable. This would be very good. (I can send you the code if you need it)

mmmm the basic resolution is 1024x768, a lower resolution scerws the game up, and to mazimize just press F4 ;)

Prizes shouldn't be drawn until after you make sure you have a basic in your hand (Why? Well my deck only has 7 basics... you can see how this could be a problem)

The basic rules sets that the prizes are set before you draw your hand ;)
( i checked that hehe )

There should be an easier way to mulligan(shuffle hand into deck because of no basics), or just shuffle you hand into your deck in general. Like a button.

Yeah, i had that problem, along with many other people, i should improove this :)

Does it not let you evolve benched pokemon... or is it just me?

Its not to evolve, its just to put a card on top of the other, tehre is no "evolve" code or anything like that...
Dephts sometimes get messed up, dunno why :)

There are some set's you obviously don't have, such as southern islands (#10), and a bunch of other promo sets. I have SI, the first promo set, and the "Best of" promo sets, I could zip em and send them to you if you want to add those.

Yes, that is because promo cards are not legal cards, and the size of the full game is increased in about 200mb (400 mb is already too much.. )

This would be more of a luxury feature, but I think it would be nice if when someone played a card that you don't have a copy of, there could be a download button on the card so that person could add it. It's not really needed, but would be helpful. Or if the file was corrupt it could fix it. Maybe?

mmm i dont know if this is a good idea... never liked the idea of people making their own cards :\ charizards lv100 with super attacks ? no thanks...

I know pokebeach is missing some scans, did you get replacements for these? I know either the holo or non holo was mr. mime from jungle was missing, so if you just DLed them all it might not have it.

If you point out wich cards are missing ill replace them, but i think that they are all... mr mime is there...

A marker for who's turn it is?

Good idea... i should check on this...

Communication? I mean skyping or IMing isn't impossible, but... (IMing would be easier if the window could resize)

Press enter to open a small chat ;)

But seriously, you're awesome and this rocks. Like redshark but not suck.

The redshark's suckness inspired me to make this game, thanks for playing it! ;)

This is off of the offical pokemon tcg site: http://www.go-pokemo...us_Rulebook.pdf (pages 4+5)
Prize Cards is step 6, drawing comes first.

Also, the player should be allowed to hide their starting pokemon until you've both selected one.

Well the problem with placing pokemon on top of another is that it doesnt snap. Also. to move it, such as to the bench, you have to do each individually.

There needs to be a way to reorder the deck, such as with a pokedex. And the deck is kinda hard to view.

But now, after playing it, I say the real problem is it doesnt really work.
I've tried it with two different people.
It seems to just sit there, and have some movement after a while. We both wait 5 minutes and still can't see our basics.

Has anyone been able to get it to work with hamachi?

I'ma try it over a lan at some point.
