The project is now finished. I was planning to develop it in full 3D, but after seeing Utopia Unlimited (a full 3D city sim game posted here) i have decided my efforts would be pathetic in comparison as i can't upgrade to Pro and even if i did this fellow seems far ahead of anything i could ever do with my pathetic abilities. However the download link still works at the site and i shan't delete it, but i will not be continuing the project.

Awww, its too bad your not going to continue this. Oh well, I better get over it. :GM7: Hey, since your not continueing it anymore, you can make it open source... :P You don't have to, it would just help alot of people who want to make city sims. Just a suggestion... :GM7:

I would and all but i deleted the file... However your suggestion does make me think. I myself may not have what it takes to make a good city sim, but i suppose i could create a source gmk file, a sort of blank city sim with the basics... Actually that's not a bad idea now i come to think of it

Yeah, you can make some sort of city sim template. ;) Then people who use it have to credit you. :D And I bet you could make a great city sim. :D

Yes it sounds like a good idea. I was always more logical than imaginative so a template probably would be up my alley. I'll definitely make one.

Ok, that sounds cool. :D You can also make it so that it comes with some instructions on how to add buildings and other stuff. :D

Well already i've got the basics made. I'll for the first version make basically an Atocity clone but without any graphics or sound, just a template, and i reckon it should be downloadable by the end of next month, probably much sooner... I am presently developing it using overhead graphics, because i assume most people can get Pro and use this to create 3D graphics (i.e a square represents a cube)... but if enough people want an isometric version i'll make two

An isometric version would be cool. Overhead is fine, I have pro, so I can try and make it 3D. :GM060: I can't wait till its done!

okay i'll make both. I've uploaded the first version of the overhead one, it's very simple but is similar to Atocity except without the music and graphics, and also i haven't yet added stuff like different eras to pick from etc. You can download it at http://www.filefacto...emplate_v_1_gmk

I suppose i should start a thread for this project... don't know where it should go though to be honest... as it's not a game but a template

Cool, I can probobly make a game out of this version. :( I can't wait untill the isometric version is out! And, I belive that you can start a thread for this in Tutorials And Examples, if you are not sure, then just PM a moderator or something. :(

Edit: Something I forgot to say, the building area declare thing is anoying, because you have to right click before you place anything. I could probobly take it out though.

P.S. I might try and make it 3D. :P

Hey, definitely don't quit this. Utopia Unlimited is a long, long way off even Alpha stage so you have plenty of room and reason for further development.

Your game looks great and has lots of potential so I really want to see more come out of this series. Just because a similar game has entered production doesn't mean you should give up what isn't broken.

I strongly advise upgrading to PRO. It's cheap and certainly worth it.

To Speedmaster: I would upgrade. Believe me the cost is not an issue, but i haven't used Paypal before and when i tried upgrading it didn't work...

I have returned to the project fulltime. However until i can somehow get Pro it will be done in isometric rather than 3D graphics.

Version 8.004 is now up for download. I fixed a major bug that created multiple developments in one location and also added weather.

After moving to England last year and so forth I haven't had much time to work on this but I've finally uploaded a new updated version and will be working on the project again now. As always please leave feedback etc.
