I've crafted a small spaceshooter for you lot who is thirsty for more of those... This spaceshooter has a twist though. You start out as a side-scrolling Space-Cat named Charl, On a spacestation on the rim of Earth.

Your mission is to protect earth from incoming asteroids! Go!

THE RIM PLAYABLE-DEMO

- You'll be able to upgrade your ship after the first mission is complete(RPG part of the game)
- The ship will be displayed on the monitor
- Use your Z powers with Z-keyboard key
- There is a free-play mode
- Features a Online Highscore table

I've decided to put this on play because I've just finished up my education, and need to find bigger more commercial(-er) projects to work on:-)

While I go on a job hunt, I expect to be finishing up alot of projects, like this one, and submit them on Yoyo as 'unfinished-games'.

Feedback is mandatory.

Over and Out

-UPDATE-
- In free-play mode you can now store up to 3 Z-Powers
- Hp bars are now visible for both Ship and Huge Asteroid

good to hear!
the game is pretty much fun

(maybe add a few more detailed screenshots of actual gameplay...i had nearly missed this game when i first saw the thread because of the lack of gameplay screenshots...but i gave it a chance and checked it out cause i thought the 2nd screenshot pointed out that it could be a good game according to the retro pixelart...i was right)

Good Advice, will do so at once:-)

Will it be ok to use your screenshot? It was a pretty good one:D

This is by far the best GM game I've ever played. I loved the song in the background, because I just like that kind of music. Gameplay was a little laggy, but recovered fast. The weapons kept on changing, which is a top feature. The difficulty steadily increased.

Graphics 9/10 - Loved em. Good particles too!
Gameplay 10/10 - Perfect.
Sound 8/10 - Great song, but lack of different sounds.
Overall 10/10 - I don't know why. Maybe my calculator's broken.

Thanks for this good review:-) Improvements to the game are already in the planning, I'll keep this Topic updated on changes in the game, and post a release date for when this game has finished it's development:-D

Something I don't want to see, is there being hundreds of different kinds of things in the screen at once. Lets say you add UFOs; don't just mix them in. Start by stopping the asteroids, then have a short alien invasion come. It would lose some style if hundreds of things were mashed together.

Agree, what was initially planned was to have different modes: "Asteroid Field"(which is featured in the demo), "Alien Invasion", "Maze", "Boss-Fights" etc. :-)

Very nice game!

Loved the sprite style, and i liked how theres these little tings you can do, like openning andclosin the window, turnin the alarm on and off etc, little details that shows the creator thought about it.

Liked the space battles tooo, pity it was over so soon

This game reminds me a bit of Star Fox, but with a cat and not as badass looking animals, but cute ones instead
