Fixed bug that nogie reported, thanks very much. Fixed it in 5 minutes from when I saw the post, and an hour from when the post was posted, pretty good eh'?

This is an engine I made with a friend a while back and I commented and changed a few things. I am very open to suggestions!!! Tell me what I should put in and what I should change please!!

I kept the download link for version 1 because it doesn't require pro unlike version 1.1!

Strikethrough - finished
Blue - Working on now
Red - Working on next
Green - 3d or over in line


To be added:
Player health for unreg! -- Finished! To be released next update

Room transition through portals - Finished :)
More advanced AI
- 75%
Long range meele - 0%


Version 1.11:
Fixed bug: if you are level 7 or higher, you couldn't shoot to the right, but i fixed it =D.

New in version 1.1:
Health bar and health

Version 1:
Movement
Jumping - press up
Awesome collisions =D
Shooting (with ammo and reload) - press space
Sword - ctrl or down
Very simple AI

There is also instructions in the info. in the game.

And yea, just a basic tutorial.

Thanks =D, Im glad that you like it and it's usable. Can someone without pro check it? I am nervous about image_xscale, is that pro?

Thanks for the replies guys! Yes, these are not my sprites and I cannot give you permission to use them.

My friend got these sprites, and Yes they are from alien hominid, but edited by I guess someone like this.

nice engine! it is like the only engine that i really liked on here, just because of the simplicity...

although, you sould have done the collision checks with code, and put them in the step event :)

oh yea! you wanted to help with A Shapians Tale, but i am starting a different game, and if you want you could help, it needs an engine similar to this one, but there is a "twist" and i think i know how to create it. PM me if you interested, and i will reply with details :skull:

Also ty soooo much for the suggestions (emailed to me) Philip McKinney, I am going to see if I can understand why the shooting doesn't work for you and I will reply as fast as I can, here is what he requested if anyone wants to know, and I will also tell my response.

1,Player health system
2. An alternative melee that has more distance

The player health system is an awesome idea and I am working on it now =D

If you want to see another melee source after what I am about to say please tell me and I will gladly put it in.
A long distance meele was not the best idea for my engine because it makes it too easy. I tried it, where you dash with the sword in hand and damage everything in your way. You are invincible when you attack with your sword (if not you would get hit while hitting with the sword), and dashing with it makes you completely invincible and a certain hit, which makes it a little to easy. But I can put it back in, so just ask if you still want it!

Ok I added the player health! It only works for pro though, so I kept the old one there. I really want you guys to tell me what you think about the longer range meele!

You should add health for non-registered, but even as it is right now, it makes a very good engine. Little to no bloat, no need to fret over replacing images, as almost none exist, and the simple ones are easy to change. Still there are a couple things that would make it better like player health (non-registered, already mentioned), map scrolling/map transitions via doors/portals, and AI adjustments (such as enemy ability to shoot at the player).

As for long-range melee, it works fine as you say as it is, but dashing is a bad idea. Keep it longer range than regular, but not so much that clicking 2 or 3 times ensure an automatic kill.

Thanks, hmm how can I make it less advanced? I didn't mean for it to be completely beginner, but how can I make it a little more understandable a beginner?

Since your tutorial uses advanced codes to carry out a funtion, I doubt you will be able to make it more understandable. You have two options however.

1. Convert all your codes to D&D.
2. Shorten your code length.

This will take loads of time, and I recommend you keep your tutorial the way it is.

Ok thanks yodudez, I think I will keep it the same though.

Version 2 is coming along quite nicely thanks to Kyron's tutorial that he let me get a few lines off of :huh:. I have made a billion mistakes on it and fixed only half a million so I need to go back and fix some now!

there is a little glitch: when you press down and walk it just stands and slide :s. pretty good example thoug!

Does anyone have any comments? I left the GMC for a while. I'm back now, but my progress on the engine is screwed :). I might keep improving the engine, for now I'm not doing anything though.
