GM Version: GM7
Present Status: Tech Demo

Hello,

I just wanted to spit a little tech demo you guys way. The concept as of now is that you are a gardener in the garden of life who has has to fend off and invasion from the land of decay. You see, the Goddess of Decay is jealous of her place in the cycle and wants to become the Goddess of life as well.

It is solely up to you to stop the cycle from life and death from being forever disrupted. To accomplish this you have to destroy the mechanisms of decay put in place around the garden. You destroy them by collecting the energies of decay and converting them into a beam of pure life light to crack through their defenses.

As of right now there is combat, basic leveling up, and dark crystals to beam into life!

----DOWNLOAD HERE----

I am really curious to see what you guys get out of this little tech demo.

Main Game Goal:

The goal of the game is to purge the garden of the dark crystals that surround the life orbs.

1. To do that you have to kill baddies and steal their mana. ( round things left behind )
2. Then you have to take that mana and exchange the energy for life energy by getting close to a life orb. (Big white this is a life orb)
3. Repeat this until all the dark crystals are gone.

Help wanted:

1. I've included a new enemy the Decayor. They are basically going around killing your flowers and destroying you charging crystals. I am not sure what effect the flowers should have? Should they just be a way to score points, or should it be more than that?

Controls:

Arrow Keys OR Left Mouse to move
Left mouse and mouse cursor to move
Mouse to swing sword
Right mouse to throw sword

Middle Mouse or space mouse to beam.

WORD  :P

I wasn't sure what was going on at first, but I got the hang of it.

I must say the visuals are very nice, good work!

That was incredibly entertaining. the sound effects add quite a lot of satisfaction to the actions. sword swinging was top notch, the effects were great, my only real advice is work on the enemy sprites perhaps. other than that, it was very fun, very fast paced, and something that i'd like to play for an extended period of time, which is rare in a gm game.

Sweet. I am glad the demo was enjoyed by you both.
I can add more detail to the enemies, but I was hoping to go keep the black and white theme. I was trying to emphasize the difference between the life and death? How the enemies really didn't belong?

I'll do what I can to keep it entertaining!

Later!

Wow, i really had no idea what was going on(until i came back to this page and read it, ). But it was truly quite awesome. Awesome graphics, sounds and game play. As for the enemy sprites, the big teddy bear looking ones look fine but the birds look a little funny.

Try and make a tutorial as soon as possible, i realise its just a tech demo and thats why it doesnt have one yet, but put it up high on the to do list. Really need it to enjoy this game to the max.

Lo_lord,

Thank you for the advice. I plan to get a basic tutorial together soon. I think for now I may just create a splash screen for the tech demo with an explanation of what to do. I'll update it this evening if time permits. Thanks!

Great game! I love how intense it is. And the leveling up is a nice touch so far.

Just found an error which ended my game and sent me back to a fresh game.

I got this when I was in the main room where you start out at the bottom edge throwing my sword wildly.

hm, add some special attacks for picking up flowers or stuff. they should be some sort of powerups.

and leave the enemies as they are.

Cool. Good work, not a huge fan of the graphic style, but that's just a personal preference. Good gameplay, I think I may go back to it and try and win now that I'm better with the controls. :D

Good work, it has the same design feel that your games are well known for. Maybe you could make the flowers increase your speed or attack ability?

Yea I'd like to see this worked on too. It's not often you come across a game of such quality :)
