I can't seem to go past the first level of the marshes. How do you get out of the water?

Well, I'm not sure exactly where you mean, but in most cases if there is no obvious way out you can wall jump:

If that's not where you mean, then perhaps you can give a bit more detail?

Drazzke, my entry's been submitted. :( I will review yours once I get 2 or more levels into the game. :)

I'll go check it out.

Nice game guys! Hope it wins.(I can't rate as I'm entering) I found an error however, I posted it on yoyogames, but I'll post it here as well for you.

___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 1
of End Step Event
for object objBBoomarange:

Error in code at line 3:
direction = point_direction(x,y,objPlayer.x,objPlayer.y)

at position 48: Unknown variable x

The instance_exists(obj) should fix this just fine...

Good luck!

Edit: Error occured when I threw boomerang and then died. :(

Edit2: Whoa! someone already pointed this error out to you. Didn't see that.

Thanks HardCoreGamer.

Desert Dog, glad you liked the game so much, and thanks for the error report, even if someone already reported it.

I would fix the error, but, as the competition is over, I can't until the judging is completed.

I tagged this topic when I first created it. Notice in the title, it says "[Platform] ChimpVenture" ? Or are you just spamming?

I think it was an accident... He was doing it to other games that didn't have tags, and must have clicked yours by accident and didn't check when he posted.
Edit:There are quite a few typo's.... although they're not that noticable.

I had several tabs up, and I posted in the ones that I didn't see the tag in. I may have clickeed the wrong tab, and posted here by mistake. sorry, my bad.

You wont get the error unless you die and the boomerang has not returned yet. Glad your liking the game.

Thanks Caniac, glad you like it! My brother and I put a lot of work into it

Also, after the competition, we plan on releasing version 1.1, which will fix a lot of minor bugs, that we missed, as well as fix a few other things that people have suggested we change/add.

Fine game. So let's have a small review:

First Impression (Before playing the game): Screenshots look nice, tempting. A factor is which is very much required for more people to download the game.

Graphics and Sounds: Nothing to complain in the graphics department. It's simple and blends with the environment. The background is very smooth.
The music is a little annoying, but that's not much of a big deal.

Gameplay: This part of the game, however, can be improved. The gameplay is slow and kind of tedious, specially the attacking parts. So the best choice is, to avoid the monsters...err...mutated animals. The walking is too slow, making it kind of boring.
But the level design is good, making up for some of the deficits. The environments are lively, and that adds to the attraction of the game.

Story: While this may not be the best story, it's passable. The first question that pops up in the mind after the introduction is, why a chimp? Why not a human being having some goodwill? A chimp with a stick (and later, other stuff) isn't exactly fit for saving a planet.

Lasting appeal: I'm just going back to play the game, which implies it appealed to me :) .

Overall, this gets a 3/5 from me. Has a fair chance.

EDIT: Added the lasting appeal!

Not sure why this would happen. I've tested the game numerous times on Instant Play, without any problems...
Does it work of you donwload the game, instead of using Instant Play?

Thank you for the review, DMsuper.

The GamePlay is a little bit slow. We realized that after we finished making the first area, I think. We started to use more platforming puzzles/challenges later on, as battling monsters wasn't very interesting.

As for the storyline, it's just a bit silly. It doesn't have to make perfect sense. We didn't want a Human to be saving the world, I think that would have taken away from the charm of the game, really. Making a monkey with the stick, who plans on saving the world, is more just humorous then realistic.

Glad you liked it overall, though. (or, it sounds as if you did). :)

I would surgets you made the window smaller. That would make the game look more cute and less GM-ish. But then again, you might have to redo some of the leveldesign. I hope you do well in the comp.

Perhaps if we had decided to make the window smaller from the start we would have done this. But at this point I really do not see the need to change it. 640x480, although the default size, seems to fit the game reasonably well.

Thank you.
