Also, I beat the game on hard mode (final boss was way easy, if you memorize his pattern, that is).

Thats somekind of a record!
Thanks,i quite like both ships really,i think new one looks better though.Nice update, still a tough game, like the new ship though I didn't hate the old one.
Awesome! Loved the graphics!
YYG download gave me a corrupted file error while the game was loading, but the mirror worked fine.
Thanks much!
Corrupted file error?
I'll have to look into that, thanks for letting me know.
I liked this game, specifically the graphics style. I didn't find it super difficult, but I'm kind of a shmup junky. Once you knew where the hit box for the ship was, it got a lot easier.
I knew it wasnt that hard,it's just certain parts that get rather tricky.Anyways, thanks, glad you like it!
It would be nice if there was a score or kills counter, this would give a point for killing enemies (because you can just avoid them and that would be the same as shooting them).
Also, I beat the game on hard mode (final boss was way easy, if you memorize his pattern, that is).
Yeah, thats true,if i had the time i would have put in some kind of highscore system,i didnt
And yeah, the last boss is a bit easy, except for the epic lazor beamz part.It catches you off gard.

Even on easy mode
lol.
Really, Really, Really, Hard. I beat the first boss and the second boss but after that I was killed.
You might want to make the easy mode be easier for Noobs like me.
Very good Health System, BTW.

The only things I would change personally are:
-Those purpleish enemies, just change the sprites to something that fits with the look of the game some more.
-Maybe more enemies? It might make the game too hard considering the current difficulty level but it would be nice if there was a little more happening onscreen? I don't know if you could maybe pad the game out with some more "filler" type of enemies that aren't particularly challenging (since there's plenty of challenge already) but just adds to the amount of stuff blowing up.
-More content.
-I really like this floating heads. At first I thought they did nothing so it surprised me when I was going to shoot one and it fired a laser at me lol, I think it might be cool if you made them a little big bigger and added in an animation for their mouths opening up really wide prior to firing?
I'm not surprised that Cactus likes this either, it seems like the kinda game he would make. I've also just realized why I love the visuals so much, it reminds me of BLAME! which is really awesome.

Either ways though that's a pretty cool game there. Would you ever be willing to share the source code for it? I'm making a shmup of my own and would love to see how you've made the player/enemies/boss using multiple parts stuck together and how you're firing bullets from specific parts of them. It would be greatly appreciated! If not it's cool, I know not everyone's willing to share their source code for stuff but it's hard as nails to find tutorials/examples for doing shmup bosses

As for the out of place purple/black enemys,i kinda thought they were out of place too,i wanted they to be like a seperate force to the surreal floating robotic head things,so i thought i would give them a small section and unique weapon.
It is kinda evil that giant uber beam thing fired by the last boss, there is an animation before he does that but it's not played long enough for the player to feel the need to move,on the other hand i did kinda want it to be slightly unfair,to give it a bit length.
If you want i can PM you the source,or if you want just the parts your interested in,i should warn you,it may or may not be commented.
Actualy it might be best if i comment the parts you want and PM you the code.
@Fiender
I didn't want it to be an easy game, doing that along with the easy mode would make it too easy for my liking.

Thanks that would be awesome. Ummm... could you just do the sourcecode for the boss and comment it all? I've chosen that mainly because it looks to be made of a few different objects and has a fair few animations, so if it was commented to say like how each part is moving and stuff that would really be appreciated a lot
And you're welcome, it's a really cool game so if you have the odd block of free time here and there I think it's worth adding more stuff to. It really goes to show how worthwhile it is adding some art/direction and character to a game is aswell, it stands out much more than most.

You mean the last boss?
Sure i can do that for you.just so you know it's just one object that draws all the seperate parts and such.
I'll Pm you when im done that.
@BountyHunterSAx
Because although being a shmup it is an arcade style one,it only has one level,no plot or much length.I know that doesn't exactly make it an arcade game but i don't think it's large enough to be a full fledged shmup.

I loved the graphical style, it was very smooth and stylish. Those faces looked kinda cool yet creepy, also. Great job on that! The sound and music was also really good, and very fitting to go along with the gameplay and graphics. The gameplay was really fun, better than some others are giving you credit for. The movement was smooth and worked well. The ship moves at a fine pace, and the firing was also good. I loved the health meter, I thought that was a unique and interesting way to go about it.
It was a bit difficult for me, but thats because I don't play shmups very often.
Hmm... criticism.... I wouldn't say decrease the difficulty, keep it where it is. Don't change the graphics, they're perfect. The gameplay is fine, the ship moves fine, enemies are fine, numerous and unique... I'd say I'll give this a....
10/10 YAY!

My only qualm was that trying to fly off screen kills you... I would often be trying to dodge bullets and end up exploding
