You should have the game name pop up when each video first starts, because then I can find the games I want to play

Heh, awesome. I noticed a few I have not played yet. Some of the games, well most of them have superb graphics and game play. Even the retro ones look good. I'm definitely going to start playing the ones I have not yet played. Good job and keep it up.

Yep, I've a list, and most of them already downloaded, I just need to record them. After I'm done recording all 100, I may re-arrange the order of the clips to be more thematic, and to match the music a bit (such as grouping shooters near the fast-paced music).

You should add names of the games to the video (like in corner or the bottom), so we know what to look for. Some of those games looked pretty interesting and I haven't played em. So I would want to know the names. Thanks for compiling this. Looks nice so far.

Ya I was wondering what that was about. I didn't knew the game, so I was really waiting for something to happen. But nothing did..

It would be nice if you added names in the bottom corner. It would also look way more proffesional. I realise that we can just look up at the list and the time. But Im lazy

The "nothing happening" ones are intentional -- I did that for atmospheric games or scenes, there the beauty and feeling of the game's environments is the main point of the game. I felt that showing actions scenes from Seiklus (for example) would be less emotionally effective than just showing the character sitting on a snail. Some people like that approach, others dislike it, but it was intentional.

I also don't think it'd be more professional to add names in the corners, it'd look pretty stupid I think, and it'd distract from the games themselves. Anyone can get the name of a game they want from the list anyway.

But if you're like me...you don't know what game it is. Just have them in the corner for like a second or two and then make them fade.

That's why I have the list

I'll add time signatures to the list later, but because each is six seconds long it's not difficult to calculate. For instance, if you see a game you like at between 3:00 and 3:06, you know that that's the 31st game on the list, because there are 31 six-second periods in three minutes and six seconds. It's very simple.

This is cool  much better than screenshots, in fact. I saw quite a few games I knew (among them some I never tried to play but just know from screenshots), but also quite a few games I've never seen before and look quite cool, so when the whole video is done I think I might go and try out a few of those games. Anyhow, don't forget putting it on YouTube, for me to favoritize :D

I think it would be more convenient if you listed the games in alphabetical order, that way people can find what games are on your video more conveniently.

Also, have you ever played my game, Pacman Battlefront (see my sig)? Its a pretty good game and you might like it.

I already have the full list of 100 planned, actually I have more than 100 (I'll have to cut some out), so don't ask if I can include your game, because I won't add it in just because you want it in. If you really think I should include a game, feel free to mention it, but you better have a great argument, because it'll mean cutting out one of the games I've already chosen to be in it.

Also, don't advertise your games in other peoples topics.

I don't know if Cell Burst is in your list.
http://www.kenginega...llburstpage.php
But, you said a good argument would be needed. It is a staff pick at YoYogames. Was first on the yoyogames site for a few days.

Anyway, I'm just throwing it out there. Not asking that you include it. I undestand that there is a lot of awesome games out there.

I agree with putting the title of the game somewhere, although if you add the time signatures that will be extremely helpful. Awesome idea! Cannot wait till you finish it. This is the exact type of thing the community needs.

Hey rinku, ever thought of doing the top 100 of 2009?

I already explained how I don't like the idea of top 100 lists, I don't think "top n" lists can be objective, lists like that are usually deceptive and unhelpful. Let me be a bit clearer: I don't think someone else's opinion on what the best games are easily transfers between people. It depends on what you seek in games, why you enjoy them, what value you gain out of them, and so on. It's true that the games in this list are recommended games that a lot of people felt are better than average, but that's more a measure of how influential and popular a game is. If you want a 'best' list, you can start one in another topic or something, I'm not going to make one.

Besides which, 2009 isn't even here yet! How can I make a best-list of 2009 if no games in 2009 are even released yet?

As for the newly recommended games: I'm kind of running out of space (only 33 slots left and my list of remaining games to possibly include is at around 70), so I can't really investigate every game that's named here. I'll look at a few though (especially those that have direct links rather than just naming something at random).

What? No! Well, I guess they pay me something for all the editing work. (I'd even donate some of it to the authors of these games!)

Anyway, I added 11 more today.

flock
battle high: team up
drop in the bucket
100 invaders
alphasix
the lost snowmen
byteality tower defense
zero point
psychosomnium
fedora spade

A little of both -- games that I've enjoyed, games that others have enjoyed, games considered important to GM "history", games that look good on video, games that show off what the GM is capable of, etc.

And enough with the recommendations, haha -- I think the video has enough abstract shooters already, too.

Whatever is in your avatar is too small to see, I can't really judge.

Two of those are on the possibilities list. Crimelife isn't -- I didn't really like it when I tried it.
