Heatwave? Wow I wish!
Here in the "sunny south east" of Ireland we're still in a hard, cold *sneezes* rainy "Winter"..
(for the last 8 months straight!)
Not fun.
Weather's getting more & more freaky worldwide lately.

Anyway, on-topic! :P
Really nice little game! Looks like you put alot of work into it! Love the cutesy graphics!
Goodluck! ;)

Yeah, I'd figured that I'd wait until the end to add sound..isn't that what everyone does :D

What kinda of background music should I put in it?

Should I make the machine have sound??? Or would that clutter up the game?

What kinda of ice cream treats do you guys think I should add for the last two levels
I don't wanna give every level away but I already have all the obvious ones, I just need two more treats ;)

Pretty good game, it would be really fun if you could also make milkshakes, popsicles, ice cream sandwiches, but you'd make each of them differently! I can see this game getting really good- and getting a staff pick!

8.5/10. Pretty good, but needs a little more than ice cream, kept me entertained for an hour though!

Pretty good, particularly for a first attempt.

Here are some things to look into:
*Your menus are really tedious... They take five or six clicks to finally get them to work. Redraw them and turn precise collision checking off (in sprite properties) and it'll help.
*With the customers walking around outside, I was expecting to see them walk through the door, rather than just pop up out of nowhere.
*The game feels really empty without sound, and due to the cartoony graphics and the potentially frantic gameplay, this could end up becoming a game with a lot of personality. But without any sound, it feels a little static so far.

Pretty good so far. Just keep working on it. :)

Thanks Purple Fuzzy the feedback was really helpful, I'll have to redo the menu last, I'm running out of time :GM071: I still have loads to do!

I definitely will add sound as soon as possible

Right now I'm working on getting Ben to pick up those orders

And as for the customers through the window, teehee, I'd love to animate them entering the store and taking a seat, but I don't know if I'll get to it, If was also suppsed to show you whose coming in next...maybe I'll get to that :)

UPDATE:
.............................................
the switches work
grandpapa can't put a million cones into the machine
views work better
.............................................

I'll be posting an updated version as soon as I get more in it, oh and yes, it will have some sound...:P

I had no idea it was so hard to work the menu, it works for me perfectly. I'll definitely have to redo it

That's the plan

Do you need help making music or something

Well, I'm getting help for that already thanks, but I guess there's no harm in requesting for some extra sounds...I'll open a request topic later

Are people having a hard time playing because the game window is too big...I've gotta get on that too...if I can can just get past the first level, the rest will be a piece of cake..I hope...15 days left and I'm only 1/2 level done... ;)

I'm worried

lets see

to get the machine to work press X to reuse the last item you already used press Z...Ben doesn't do anything yet I'm not a very good coder ;),
thats all you need for now, that and to get a cone from the shelf you have to press X

thank you fyeregg you are too kind  I first got GM in January, I'm slowly picking things up :rambo, or at least I think I am...

I think this is such an adorable little game, very sweet. I've played something similar to it before and found it very addictive, so this has great potential.

I'm hoping we can attract some attention to your threads and get you the help you deserve to finish this, since my best efforts have fallen flat.

Good luck with this and the comp!

thanks for your support James! My brother said that he hated my graphics though :P he said that I try to mix 3d with 2d graphics, but what's wrong with that ?

I think he might be referring to the tables that the customers sit at though.

Game takes a whole lot of RAM.
You should load stuff externally or something...
It takes like 140mb...
Anyway, the game takes a lot of time until the menu works.
And I didn't understand how to play, because I couldn't find any instructions.
The game itself looks nice, but after a while I had an error, which led to a lot of errors...

Once I do that the game should speed up

As for the menu not working:

It only seems to work on certain screen resolutions try 1024 by 760 for now! I will change the screen resolution in the next update

I really like the graphics. I agree that it really could use some sound to brighten the mood a little. I also think the machine should make sound, but it's volume should adjust based on the view's distance from the machine. That way it's not too noisy when you're not at the machine.

I was also really confused when I started the game, but I sorta skipped past the instructions when I first looked at it, so I guess it's my fault :(

Really nice work though, it's a very impressive first game, I like it a lot. Certainly a nice deviation from the average game nowadays :D

THINGS TO DO!!!
..................................................

Make machine louder on Gramps side

Finish Programming Switches
Program What happens if you lose a life/all lives
Program the remaining 13 levels :D
Program "the bad guy" :(
Find unique store bell sound
Add sound effects/background music
Draw YOU LOSE Background/YOU WON Background

kind of like that, each customer has a unique number and if the number doesn't match up (or equal) the icecream that little ben has in his hands then its supposed to go SPLAT!
