Introduction - "Why play this if there's already HeartGold and SoulSilver going to be released by Nintendo?"
Pokémon: Last Crystal Hidden (or it's current short name, Crystal 2) is a fangame attempt to revive the 2nd generation of Pokémon with Game Maker. No, it's not trying to give it "updated graphics," it's basically just an improvement of the original, as it's goal is to play exactly like the original Pokémon Crystal, take the game itself, and expand it. This engine is most known for having a "perfect replica" or well, pretty darn close replica of the battle engine used in Crystal.

Pokémon fangame attempts have a reputation of never getting finished because the authors always make the mistake of advertising their game too much -- to the point where they don't even work on the game at all. I'm not wasting my time on this, because it's a pointless thing to do. My goal every since I first played Pokémon Crystal was to get a sequel with more stuff to do. Nintendo is not willing to do that (they don't have a reason to), so I will. Besides, HeartGold and SoulSilver aren't going to come out for a while.

The storyline will not be the same for the most part, it will have some parts of the original, but it's main similarity is that it will be held in Johto. Also, like HeartGold and SoulSilver, Johto will be expanded. Except, a lot more.

Default Controls:

Arrows (D-Pad): Move the player/Menu cursor
Z Key (A): Accept/Interact with an object
X Key (B): Cancel
Enter (Start): Bring the menu
Backspace (Select): Use a selected item

Author's Status - "I know I took this idea from ShinyGold's Zel, but it's a good idea overall."
(The purpose of this is to stop the "is this project dead or not?" talk. No, it's not dead. I'm not quitting until it's finished.)
School is cutting development time back a lot. Nightly releases will now be done weekly. Also, I'm getting closer to bringing in the new story for this. No, the begining will not be like Crystal.

With my dialup, it gets annoying having to upload even 1mb. Although, there's a converter program you can use.

Er... It started up a battle with a wild level 3 Venasaur and I sent out a Mew with only one health. Is that supposed to happen?

Really nice engine so far, just... Odd that it started like that. ^_^

Ah, the days of G/S/C. I still own all of them and play them on a regular basis. It's the BEST era of Pokemon in my opinion. I have to clean up some space on my hard drive, then I'll download this and edit with comments.

Yeah, it was supposed to start like that. :P

Ah, the days of G/S/C. I still own all of them and play them on a regular basis. It's the BEST era of Pokemon in my opinion. I have to clean up some space on my hard drive, then I'll download this and edit with comments.


I used to own them all, but I broke Crystal. ;_;
Can't wait for the comments. :D

I like it. Seems like a pretty clean battle system so far, though I've never seen a level 56 Mewtwo that knows nothing but tackle. :whistle:

I hope not. Diamond/Pearl is a huge angry zit on the face of the Pokemon franchise.

Sorry, I kind of overreacted. You're entitled to your own opinion, but I personally don't like the games.

Same here :skull: I wonder why they never made a remake of it though... (for GBA/DS)

I dislike Diamond and Pearl too.

Well, I go to try out you engine with the Vista Compatible version and it's a really good one! I had a battle with a nice level 4 Charizard ( :blink: ) Good job! It'd be nice to see a Silver/Gold/Crystal clone on the GMC, I've never seen one before. :skull:

I was actually thinking of adding all Pokemon on the game when it's done, but I can't decide weather to add DP pokemon or not, so I'll probably just end up adding just a few.

The 4th generation isn't my favorite either... but anyways, right now I'm working on adding new attacks with effects other than taking damage. Can't be too hard(especially since status reduction/increase is already done).

Edit: Oh, and how could I forget? Thanks everyone for your support. :blink:

I'd like to thank you for starting this topic. I've been inspired. Ever play the Pokemon Trading Card Game for GBC? Ever wonder why they never made a sequel with newer cards? Guess what I'm working on now. :blink:

Any idea when the next version comes out?
