New nightly demo up.

Oh, and anyone with overworld RPG programming knowledge that wants to lend me a helping hand... well, raise your hands. :P It could speed up these demos even more as it's honestly what's holding me back a little.

Hehe, what is the problem with the overworld?

I took a look at your source today and I noticed, your battling object has NO step event. Why'd you put it all in the draw event?

There's nothing wrong with the overworld... at least I hope not. It just seems I would save a lot of time if I didn't have to take days to figure out something that someone else has already easily accomplished in minutes. As I said, having someone to help me in that would speed things up so much.

The whole battle is in one script cause it keeps things organized for me. If I had used both the step event and draw event or just the step event alone it would have caused more delays. Plus, 2 scripts are harder to update than one.

New nightly, and a lot of bugfixes. If you haven't tried the nightly releases and you've only played say, demo 4, I really suggest you try this out.

Wowee, I finally come back to inspect this and I'm blown away DavidX, you've done an amazing job thus far.

(Plus, who the hell cares if HG/SS is coming to English players soon? I want to see some old style graphics!)

I'm really sorry guys, school has taken over my life momentarily (homecoming and such) so I've had no time to work on this. Not only that but I'm in charge already of finishing a short game.

The good news is, day/night is done and ready to go on for the next demo, yay! Don't expect this to be the only cool thing though, I just want you guys to know it's really confirmed to work (like Crystal, based on your comp's clock). The next demo will probably be very advanced, having wild battles, more houses, and possibly the inventory (Pack) system.

Edit: Oh yeah, and don't think I'm going to stop working on this (I just saw your post james) because of HG/SS, there's no way I'm quitting this. Believe me you guys will really like the next demo. :)

(I always come back to this and find out how flexible I made it, I surprise myself since I'm not that good at programming. Most stuff is pretty easy to add, I just haven't been able to do it because of life. Day/Night literally took me 3 minutes)

Not that I'm trying to suggest you hurry to release it... just thought you'd appreciate some attention. Your work so far is really impressive, and certainly deserves it.

Download links are up (nobody noticed the host was dead for like a month... but okay) and a new nightly release. Unfortunately I didn't have time to add wild battles in this demo. They will come soon, as I don't want them to be sloppy, or else they would have been in already...

The only copies of Game Maker I've got for the time being are the Mac and GM8 betas...

Game crashes upon launch with the Mac beta, and with the GM8 beta I get the following error:

I'm sorry, next demo will defenately come with an executable. These nightly releases just have a few patches and additions on them, so I didn't see the need to upload executables with them everytime (you know, dialup).

Next demo won't be a nightly release, so it will come with an executable. I'm so sorry. >_<

This is wonderful! Reminds me of the old days. The game I miss. I actually prefer these graphics to the newer ones, hehe. It's open source too... so it's okay if I try to learn from the game, right? Thank you for working on this game.
