Dear, well, everyone,
I have some news about Last Hidden. For now, the project is either paused or stopped. Reason is that my laptop completely died on me(OS crashed and got corrupted, and the charger gave up on me). The source that I lost was so close to an acceptable demo, you couldn't believe it. The progress was huge compared to the most recent demo released.
I have three options:
- Get a job, buy new charger and retrive the data with a bootdisk. Getting the source back is very possible; getting the job for the money needed to do this is not. If I pick this, the project lives completely and gets even closer to finishing it. However, this approach could take about half a year(the charger is really expensive, but that's all I need).
- Continue development from the the source of Demo 4. I managed to get my hands on this demo, but it's ancient. Half of the code was already rewritten to be better and fixing it again could take months. Not to mention that the computer I'd have to keep development in is also ancient, meaning that loading the game once
is taking 10 minutes.Update:
I've decided there's no way in hell I'm taking this approach. The source I got is ridiculous. It's demo 4 alright, but compared to the most up to date version I had, it's a joke. This is good news for a few of you, knock yourself out
- Cancel the project completely and move on to other things. I could help another project out with the battle system since that's what I'm good at.
I'm not sure if I should even go to the trouble of keeping the project alive. Remaking Pokemon Crystal was always a dream for me, and I really want to keep doing it. This project has gotten positive comments, but there are also those who say I'm just waisting my time, that I should just make something for Generation IV. I'd like to know if the community wants to keep this project alive or not.
So PM me with your thoughts.
