Hello I am Caleb Cuzner, a background music composer.

Terms of service:

  • Credit must always be given to Caleb Cuzner when you use music I wrote.
  • I will not write music for or allow my music in any production that contains excessive gore, offensive language, or any sexual references.
  • If you find a link to a song of mine somewhere, feel free to use it (just give credit). This also means that my songs are not exclusive to one particular game.
  • My music is completely free, but donations are very much appreciated from everyone.
  • To prevent from getting overwhelmed by requests, I am under most circumstances only accepting requests from up to 3 people at a time. (Once four people have requested songs, I will say "Temporarily closed to new requests" in this topic.) Please do not request any music at the times when I am closed to new requests.
  • I do not make sound effects.
  • I can write music of most genres.
  • If you have posted a request in this topic, I will fulfill that request unless I post saying otherwise. I usually do not respond until I complete the music requested.
  • Please do not request the exact same request from both me and other composer(s) at the same time unless you are expecting to use more than one song for that request.
  • I do write music for other clients through email or other websites, so keep in mind that I may have more requests to complete than those listed in this topic.
  • Do not post any of my music to music sharing websites without my permission.
  • Please keep me up to date about the projects you use my music in.
  • For commercial projects: For projects which you will make a substantial profit from ($25+), use of my music will require a donation of 10% of your game's profit. The percentage can be negotiated by contacting me.
  • These terms are subject to change at any time.

When you want me to make a song for a game, use this format for requesting:*
1. Genre (for best results say actual genres (types of music))
2. Length
3. Looped or not
4. Preferred file format (midi, mp3, wav, wma, ogg, etc, but I cannot do mod files)
5. Other information (where its being used, example of what it should sound like, screenshots, game demo, etc)

*Please request one song per a request form. If you want multiples of similar songs, please post separate request forms that say the specific variants you want in each of the separate songs. This will make it much easier on the composer.

For those of you that don't know: Looped means that the song can be played over and over again with no stops. Not looped means the song has an ending.

Samples:

MP3:

Arise From the Dust
Diamond Quest
Imminent Victory
Stealth in the Trees

Jumping on Rocks
All About Drums and Bass
Grinding Gears
Determining Destiny
Pat-a-Bells
all my mp3 songs are also available in midi format

MIDI:
Confusion
Not You Again
Sweet Joy and Happiness
Frustrating Options
Finish Him
Jam Machine
Happy Dance

You can find more samples by looking through this thread.

News:
Here is a zip of all the midi songs that I have written from August 2007 to May 8, 2013: Caleb Cuzner's Songs

Please Visit My Website: calebcuzner.com

It has free mp3's categorized by genre for you to use, a list of some games I wrote music for, and much more!

Follow me on:

I offer my services completely free, but it would be nice to receive donations to pay for enhancing my methods. I greatly appreciate donations of any amount.

Hey guys.
Not really much of a request, but just a reccomendation.
Nijg made a song for my game (the return) and it's awesome.
If you need background music, this is where to go.

Actually, while I'm here,

Genre: ???
Mood: Tense.
what it's for: Final Boss
Speed: Fast
Length: about two mins.
Looped or not: looped
Preferred file format: midi or mp3
Other information: Don't know if you could do this, but maybe wind howling in the background? the song should have a frozen theme.

Okay, same as before, do you have a name for your song?
Also: You should probably add Speed, Mood, and What it's for to your song specifications, so you know what to make.

:) Anon

GAH! That sounded SO suck-uppy.
Wasn't being a suck-up guyz, real recommendation...

Anon - I hope this works. The beginning sounds kind of spooky, but it develops into an intense battle-like environment, getting at its fastest near the middle.

Sorry I could not find any way to add wind howling in the background.

Frozen Cave

-my songs almost always have names

If you want me to make a song for a game, use this format for requesting:
1. Genre: Space shooter (fast-paced)
2. Length: 7-9 minutes would be nice (but if you don't go this long, then make it as long as you will)
3. Looped: Yes
4. Preferred file format: Midi
5. Other information: It'd be cool if you could fit some kind of guitar in there and possibly some drums (if it sounds good with these).

Thanks!

Hey, I would be VERY pleased if you did this, dude!
My game will be a platform/fighting/adventure game and I wish that there is only music during battle...

1. Genre: Hard Rock, Fast.
2. Length: 2-3 mins
3. Looped: Yes
4. Preferred file format: Midi is ok
5. Other info: Something like DevilMayCry music would be amazing.

Alright, I spent two days working on this song. With this song being 8 minutes long, having 320 measures and 15 instruments this is by far my biggest song ever. The lead instruments are Square Wave, Synth Brass and Distortion Guitar. I hope this song works!

Dragon Star - Sorry but I cannot work with that melody.

Well, I've never actually tried hard rock before (I've never been a big fan of hard rock.) But I listened to that DevilMayCry music and tried to make a similar-yet-different song, and this is what I came up with. I hope it works!

Thank you very much for doing the song! It is very good, don't get me wrong, but it is not as I expected... ;)

If you can edit, or remake it if you will, taking my following advices, :P I would be pleased once more:
* Heavyer and Lower Notes, giving the song a less "happier" mood and a better "fighting" feel.
* Longer note sequences, making the song less "paused", and more "smooth".
* I liked how you inspired yourself in the DMC music, but the gap between 0:40 to 0:49 feels a bit misplaced in a battle music.
* Your music got very crazy and cool, I just didn't liked the main rhythm, which doesen't fit's the "cutting tons of enemies into pieces scene", and that's what I'm talkin' about.

Thank you once more,
SilverLQ

Alright, I'm on it. I'll try to come up with a more aggressive rhythm, "smooth it out" and add a heavy bass

First of all I've got to say your music rocks. I have tried composing music, not achieving half of what you can do.
Then, I want to ask you to compose a song for me.

Mood: I want it to be a somewhat happy, smooth(long note sequences) song.
Length: Any length..
Other Info: Looped. The song of this game kind of resembles what I want.. Little medieval-ish, if you can. Make a wav, or a midi(or both :P ), as you want

Well, I couldn't really establish my personal definition of "medieval-ish," but I do have a happy smooth (ish) song:
Cuician Fifths

Although if that doesn't really establish the whole medieval theme, I do have this other song that is more "medieval-ish," but its not quite as happy and has shorter note sequences than Cuician Fifths:
Promised Land (This may not sound looped, but believe me, it is)

These may not sound much like the example you have there, but I hope they work.

These are both MIDI, and if you really want WAV, I can get you WAV, but the thing is WAV files of my songs usually range from about 10-30 Megabytes, and I don't think you would really want that big of sound files in a game unless you want your game to load really slow. If you really really want a WAV, I can get one to you. I'm doing this to conserve upload space on the hosting places I use.

I hope one of these work!

I couldn't figure out how to put in screams anyway, so...

I composed a creepy song for you, although it may sound mildly dark-synthy-ish, but still has the creepy feel. I even have a little piano feature in there. You did not specify whether you wanted it looped, so by default I looped it. I hope you don't mind that this song is 3 minutes and 12 seconds instead of 3 minutes. I had to make it that way due to the medium-slow tempo. I hope it works!

For the acoustic guitar one, I made a song that just uses a combination of six guitars, 5 of them nylon and one steel. I hope you don't mind the jazzy-sort-of feel to this song. I hope it works!

For the eerie low pitch creepy song, I think that the song I composed for a guy earlier would work for you as well. So here is the midi version of that song:

Yes, yes it is. But there is a line of songs I still have to do, so you just have to wait in line. It will probably be done within 24 hours.

Thank you, Grimmjow

I listened to the Maplestories music and cannot establish how it would be classical. The theme song is I guess somewhat classical, but if you want a song like the theme, I will not be able to compose it because, as I have said earlier, I do not compose calm music. If when you say classical, and you mean something besides the Maplestories theme song type of song, please tell me. Or if you want your music to be very loosely based of Maplestories songs, please tell me. I am sorry for any inconveniences.

1. Genre (be VERY general, mood would be included here): RPG Medieval like
2. Length (I am flexible with virtually any length): 1:30
3. Looped or not: Loop
4. Preferred file format (midi wma mp3 or wav): MP3
5. Other information: Make it sound adventurous and mysterious and medieval like and fast. Very fast. NES styled too.

I composed a song for you, and I personally think it sounds very adventurous and mysterious (and has some "What's going to happen next?" type of stuff in it), and I sure hope its medieval enough. By using 3 square waves, 1 saw wave and 1 synth lead bass, it should sound very very NES styled. I hope it works!

Here's the alone one:
The Ghost

And here is the haunted one:
Spookination

If you find it necessary, you may want to use Spookination for alone and The Ghost for haunted, due to the speed of the song. (Because The Ghost is faster than Spookination.) But I personally think that Spookination sounds more for a haunted setting and The Ghost sounds more for an alone setting.

I hope these work!
