No. As KC would say, don't make us play 20 questions. It's getting to be a tiring trend that people post threads expecting everyone to guess their computer stats, windows version, all the circumstances surrounding their problem, etc. We aren't mind readers; if you want us to help, at least put a little effort of your own into providing details when you post.

I'll get you started.

Did you restart your computer?
Did you check to make sure you have available memory?
Did you try increasing the size of the page file?
Did you try shutting all other programs?
Did you check this with other Game Maker games that you made?
Did you check this with any other Game Maker game?
Does this happen with any game/program on your computer or just those made by Game Maker?
Did you search the forum for people with similar problems who got theirs fixed?
Did you try running the "problem games" on another computer?
Did you update your computer's drivers?
What else should we know?

How big are the sound files you're loading / adding when you make a new sound? If they're large, you can expect delays like this, and you should re-compress / re-encode them at lower specs.

Try re-intalling the directX 10 drivers, even if you know you have the latest. The update link is in the Darn Vista thread in my sig.

Hey I'm getting exactly the same problem as how you describe it, even in a game with nothing but an empty room the loading whizzes through to the "Preparing sounds" stage of the load (in Debug mode) and then stops for maybe one or two seconds (which seems like a lifetime when you watch it) and then whizzes to the end. And yeah, there are no sounds to prepare so why the wait :)

Have you found any solutions yet ?

EDIT: Ok I just tried loading a blank game again and I'm getting a delay of about 7 seconds on the preparing sounds stage. It's actually less on the game I'm making which has loads of graphics and objects etc. Pretty strange ...

I had a similar problem, which remains a mystery to this day. I'm not sure if this is "Icuurd's Game Maker 7 Fix", but you might want to try disabling the "spoolsv.exe" system process temporarily. You might be able to do this through the "processes" tab of the Task Manager, but for me, it tended to restart immediately; it can be disabled semi-permanantly through the Control Panel, although I can't remember how.

EDIT: Please don't bump older topics unless you have a good reason to. I don't really appreciate having my time wasted.
