No, this is not legal. Just because music is available for free does not mean that it is free for you to use. Take sites like MySpace or Facebook for example, or artists official websites. Free downloads may be available on their websites, but it's definitely not legal to use those without the proper "permissions".Question: if the developers themselves have put the music on their website (Free Radical published the Timesplitters 1, 2 and 3 music, as did their composer http://www.graemenorgate.com/), can I use it in my games then? Pretty much can't contact them, since they don't exist anymore. So I'm asking here
No, this is the same as the above, essentially.Hi

Here's a list of tracks that you may use though. By me, and written for Open Surge, as long as you give credit then you may use it.

I know this question is old, but if people have similar questions and want to understand a bit better whether you can or can't use music in your trailer ( or game, video, film or whatever) then I thought I would point out acouple of tutorials that may be helpful in answering some of these questions. Here are links to them....Hope they are helpful here.

Preferably don't use mp3 files in you games. They need to be decompressed which takes processing time and might slow down the game. The fact that the file size is smaller does not mean that they use less memory. Also, not all machines support them. So your game might not run on all machines.
I found that here: http://gamemaker.inf...l/203_00_sounds
It makes me wary to use mp3's, but WAV is so large and Zircon does not recommend it in his first post. Thoughts?

Hello everyone!
If you need some background music to your games, feel free to contact me on my facebook page "astralpsycho"
you can also check out some of my work at
www.soundcloud.com/astralpsycho
(If the link doesn't work, just copy it and paste it in your browser)
I can make the most of anything, but I really like creating 8-bit music, toss me a message at my facebook and check my music out. It's quite mixed on soundcloud though but check out the "Sid" and "Chiptune/Fakebit" genres that I have.
