Q: i can play guitar. Is it good if i give my recorded music for games
Is it copyrighted? If not, sure. I might recommend a midi program that enables guitars if anybody might want a midi instead, but I don't know your situation.

This sounds crazier tha its meant, but... How can I rip the music that is coming out of my soundcard for free? Windows recorder will work, but only for 60 seconds?
Cheers,

Yes there is a way to check if a sound has ended.
Use that. It's a little difficult, though.

Best not to rely on that. Audio DLLs support a function like that.

Additional to what Jedi Questmaster said, it depends on whether you're able to record in a good quality. I mean, if it's clicking and making noises frequently, then nobody will enjoy listen to it, and then nobody wants to use the music in his/her game.
Another thing is, that you then would have guitar-only background music... and such music tracks can sound monotone if there's just one instrument in it... But it's not said that it has to. I think if you can play the guitar so that it's still interesting after a while (good riffs, chord progressions, that stuff), then there's nothing against it.
Of course you're also limited then... Guitar just doesn't fit to every scenery.. but if you have absolutely no other way, and really want to make background music, why not? Like I said, there just shouldn't be too much background noise in there, like clicking and scratching thing that would disturb the music.

This is a simple explanation of how to make a seamless audio loop.
1-Download Audacity which is a free multi track recorder
2-Set input to 'microphone'
3-Hit the record button
4-say 'ohhhhhhhhh' into your microphone ( or any other noise. crashing pots and pans...whatever your need. )
5-Hit the stop button
6-Depending on the sort of sound your dealing with, you may want to delete the first or last parts of your recording, such as the silent bits that you won't use, any extraneous coughing noises, and accent, whatever. Now...With the selection tool, select the first part of your recording. Go to 'effect' > 'fade in'.
7-Now go to the end of your sound and select a piece. Go to 'effect' > 'fade out'. Do not deselect the piece you just faded out. Hit control X to cut that piece to the buffer. now your sound ends abruptly, but we're about to fix that.
8-Now go to 'project' > 'new audio track'. Hit the rewind button so you're at the beginning of your new track, and hit 'ctrl V' to paste the buffered piece into the first part of your new track.
9-Go to 'edit' > 'select all', then, go to 'project' > 'quick mix'.
10-If all went well you should have a seamless audio loop, so with the shift key down, hit the play button for looped playback. If it has a little glitch, no problem. chances are you will get it the second time around if not the first.
good luck!

http://forums.gamema...howtopic=180728Q. So am I not allowed to use real songs in a free game?
And please don't use the term "real" so loosely. It's incorrect and is rather insulting in a way.
horodnicdragos, are you refering to what stinger9 was talking about? Then you can look in that other topic. If not, you either have to ask the original composer; or, if they made the music piece for that purpose, then of course you give credit. It's your way of saying thanks.

Personally, I don't believe in it. Every piece of music that's ever gone into my games, I wrote myself. I realize there are many here who don't have the experience, and if you don't, find someone who does, and is willing to create music for you.

the only way to get it is to record it but then it becomes wav and makes GM take forever to load!

And also, would a wav file really increase the size of a gm game?
All these questions are about vgmusic.com, thats where im getting my music from.

WAVs will bloat your game beyond belief, and will only cause you frustration.
As for giving credit, I'm not sure if it's required to use anything from VGmusic.com, but you should do it anyway. If you save it as a WAV the same philosophy applies.
