Well, if we follow the rules of the previous cagematch, it's been too long now - your games wouldn't be within the timeframe for allowable entries anyway. I was told by Ablache that once they brought back the cagematch that my game would be re-entered, or receive another form of compensation. Now I really don't believe that you know all the details about what Ablache and I discussed, so how about Ablache and I talk and you keep your nose out of this? |

I hope I'm not the only one quietly enjoying the hostility between Fred and ChIkEn.
Okay, maybe I'm completely over dramatising things but it makes reading the forum so much more interesting. |

I was told by Ablache that once they brought back the cagematch that my game would be re-entered, or receive another form of compensation. Now I really don't believe that you know all the details about what Ablache and I discussed, so how about Ablache and I talk and you keep your nose out of this? If you were already discussing this with Ablach, why did you decide to bring it into the public eye by posting it here? It's ignorant to think that anyone here besides you or Ablach would know about this discussion, and even more so to think that posting here about it would help your cause. Honestly, this is the type of mistake our newest members make... I wouldn't have expected it of someone who's been here for so long. The lesson here is that if you want people to keep their nose out of your business, don't post it on a forum. Simple concept for a simple mind - PM me if you have any problems processing it. In the meantime, I don't think this discussion needs to be continued in this topic. You've already got a conversation going with Ablach about it, so whining about it here has no purpose. |

So, now that we finally opened the Cage Match again, can we publically hang the member that ruined the last one by cheating?
Ooooh, I love my new member role. It's so wonderfully void of responsibilities. |

Odd question but is the cage match actually about games or is it just a FredFredrickson Either way it should be good it's about games. two games are... voted to victory (its a poll) and the winner goes onto the next round, the loser choosing the next challenger. if the winning game wins four games in a row, they go into the cage match hall of fame, and both the winner and the loser choose the next combatants. at least thats how it used to go. I think. This post has been edited by MMORPGguy: Jun 7 2008, 01:38 AM |

This will take place the Saturday following the announcement of the winners of the Ancient Civilization Contest being held at Yoyo Games. I think you might come to regret making that decision; the Cage Matches might not even start this Saturday, if the results aren't announced.. YoYo Games Glog post written on Monday the 2nd: QUOTE Finally I’m busy looking at the submissions for competition 02 and I look forward to seeing an announcement of the winners by the end of this week. Looks like both Sandy and yourself were wildly optimistic; the results aren't going to be announced now until at least Monday, so the cage matches will have to return the week after that.. |

I was thinking about a new way for the cage matches to be opened with out messing it up like we have before, here is what I thought up; the process is as follows:
1) Two games (if you want, the mods could pick two games to start off the cage matches again, or, the GMC could sort of vote on a game) are picked out of the GMC, or we could get the last cage match running. 2) The voting goes as normal, except there are two votes this time: one for the first game, and another for the second game. These votes require the user to do both of them, rating 1 out of 10 stars as 1 the lowest, and 10 the highest. Another thing that's the same is that the voters don't get to see the voting results until after they vote. 2-a) The thing that's different though, is that after the voting for the first game is done, and perhaps that game beat the other in the cage matches, when it's moved onto the next round with the same votes of stars with it. So, if a game got an average of 6 stars and 300 votes, those 300 users couldn't re vote or give that game a different number of stars if that game got into another round of the cage matches, however, new users that haven't voted or rated that game before are allowed to do so. 3) General criticism is aimed at whichever game they thought was better or worse. 4) To determine which game was better, is not by looking at the number of voters towards that game (as the number of votes should be the same, as I mentioned before, the users must vote twice) but rather looking at the average amount of stars, and seeing as which one is higher. This way, a game doesn't get overruled by "It's old" or "I've seen this before" type criticisms from users. |

The language describing the cage matches is making me laugh: epic battle, clash of titans, combatants...
There's no battle, no clash, no combat. It's just a poll where members vote. Really exciting, eh? |

QUOTE (KC LC) The language describing the cage matches is making me laugh: epic battle, clash of titans, combatants... QUOTE (MMORPGguy) it symbolises more than even that... Not to me... but I suppose symbolism is in the mind of the beholder. To me, it just seems like a popularity contest -- partly about the games, and partly about the game authors. But that's not necessarily bad. I'm just amused by how a simple poll gets hyped up to such "epic" proportions. |

I dunno, easily amused? lol, before I read it for the second time, I thought you sain 'boulder' instead of 'beholder'. lol. |

QUOTE The language describing the cage matches is making me laugh: epic battle, clash of titans, combatants... laugh.gif None of this is correct, since the "contestants" don't do anything... There's no battle, no clash, no combat. It's just a poll where members vote. Really exciting, eh? well the name cage match kind of lends itself to be thought of like that. If it was called "poll of the week" instead, Im sure it would be thought of differently. |
