Caveman Craig is a unique, humorous sim game in which you need to breed, train, and protect other cavemen, who perform various tasks to keep your cave alive and thriving. You need to protect your cave from various threats such as carnivores, opposing cavemen tribes, and ultimately, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. As your cave grows, you will receive bonuses, larger threats, and as a result the game will become more tense and fast-paced. The game was created in GM 7.0.

This game is excelent! I like the concept alot and the game mechanics are awesome put too.
The graphics are very well done, there could be more work done on polishing (the cavemen look lifeless when they gather/prepare) but it's ok.
I found the sounds very funny especially when the cavemen learn something new.
This is very addictive game and it's the best GM game I played.

Thanks for your kind words, Vladalf.

New Version - 1.1
I've released a quick update that fixes a few issues and adds a new aspect of gameplay to make avoiding raptors easier.

This is really nice, but could still use some polish.

My main gripe is that you can quite easily get to a certain point, having fun along the way, and then suddenly you get attacked by about ten of the rival tribe who just decimate your entire clan, no matter how many hunters you have. At least, thats what happened each time i played. I played three times.

Also, it would be good if the dinosaurs (the triceratops and raptors in particular) made a different sound when they died than when they appeared. Because i kept rushin out to kill raptors, only to discover they were already dead!!

Apart from that, this game is excellent. As ever, it would be good if there was more to do and more features, but it is fine as it is.

Great game, didn't make it to meet anything aside from raptor, I always run out of hunter and then he gets me and I get killed <_<

Can't say a bad word about this game, it's in the top of the best amateurs games I've ever played, gratz dude!

5/5 ofc!

EDIT
ok I know about the tap now! Can survive those raptor attacks

Very nice polished game. The only flaw is that it tends to become a bit boring after a while.

I give it 8 out of 10

Professional as always RhysAndrews. Couldn't quite get the hang of it right away, but it feels how a game should feel.

Not true. Staff members can't enter the contest. Mods aren't necessarily staff members. At least, I am not.

My main gripe is that you can quite easily get to a certain point, having fun along the way, and then suddenly you get attacked by about ten of the rival tribe who just decimate your entire clan, no matter how many hunters you have. At least, thats what happened each time i played. I played three times.

There are a few little tactics that make the game easier. Particularly, for growth, teaching some preparers and gatherers only some techniques will help distribute the preparing of carcasses and berries more, allowing you to get the most out of both food methods. I know many people who have managed to play a game for over an hour.

Thankyou all very very much for your support and comments. I've just released version 1.2, which attends to suggestions made by the community. Chickenfeed, I'm trying to get your suggestion about death sounds implemented for 1.3.

Cool. I've played it a couple more times since. The problem definitely lies with those rival tribesmen. I don't know if its just me!!!

I had 18 hunters, 5 gatherers and 4 preparers. A group of about eight of those b**stards came along, and all of a sudden i was left with only 4 hunters.

But its not enough to put me off!!!

It just looks so nice and is replayable even though i know i'm just going to get massacred by those evil cavemen.

I never rated it before, but I'll say......8/10

I love this game, and am going to tell my real-world friends about it.

My only complaint:

Why do all of your games take so much memory and processor speed?

I feel like, I download a game, and to play it, I have to turn off every cool effect. Even then, the cavemen slow down, and my fps goes to 29/60 in Conflict Arcade.

Best GMC game I've ever played! It's amazing! Maybe you could add saber-toothed cats, or a warrior class that can kill the rival tribe much better than normal, but can't gather or prepare or hunt.

The game is absolutely fantastic and I still maintain the belief that this is destined to be a classic. I believe it's a real contender for the 1st prize in the Competition; the formula is simple yet addictive, the graphics are fantastic (tip of the hat to Tim) and the sounds are very good also. The only gripe I have with the game is that once you begin to accumulate more cavemen the attacks seem to become more frequent, knocking you back again while the attacks subside, meaning the gameplay takes a long time to show you all its features and the hard-work put into it.
Having played for about 45mins I still am yet to see the Tyranossaurus Rex.. ;)

Hahaha, I was laughing about that myself. It's ok with C:A because I was aiming for a high-end quality game that did slow down lower-end PC's down. The main thing that really slowed it down though was the AI - it was the first proper AI I'd ever really programmed. As with Caveman Craig, we had to develop the whole thing in 30 days and there wasn't much time for optimisation. Again, though, I blame the AI. I'm not too great at it.

This is my 500th post!#

Anyway, just to suggest something. Why can't the T-Rex attack rival cavemen? I was being attacked by so many cavemen that my village was destroyed and I had to hold <Space> just to survive. So while holding it down a T-Rex attacks and marches straight past the rival cavemen so it can eat me.. I didn't think a dinosaur was so picky.. <_<

Yeah, the dinos should be able to attack the rivals. Might help to balance it out a bit more <_<
