The demo is over two years old. Please check the screenshots and video material as those are very recent, I would appreciate your feedback.
I'll be developing a website soon, and you can expect an updated demo with substantial gameplay. Until then I recommend to wait with playing the 2 year-old demo and instead to check out the video material I record monthly!

About
FactionWars is a huge top-down space simulation game. It aims to offer a semi-realistic view of the future, whilst providing the player with a large amount of choice, in depth storylines, sharp graphics and highly addictive gameplay.

Features
An immersive, dynamic story driven game system, in which the player's decisions and actions affect the outcome of the game. Enthralling, addictive gameplay that will keep you entertained for hours, as well as enough replay value to make the game worth playing over and over again.

Technical Features currently include: 3D pre-rendered graphics, interesting AI and Wingmen features, Dynamic Lights shedding light on ships, Explosion & Glowing effects, Screen Distortion, Smooth Camera & different Cam Settings, Zooming, Infinite Space, Movement & Mouse-Based Firing concept, endless weaponry etc etc.

Controls can be found in-game at the top left. Please read them carefully. The controls are currently very tricky to understand for the first time, in particular selecting targets and weapons.
This is already simplified in the current version which is not for download.

Since I've already tested the game before this topic started I've to say it's a really great game. When there are more levels added it will be awesome. I also like the metal idea instead of money. :(

How you describe it, it sounds like a game I played, Dark Orbit. In that game, there was this mining guy stranded on a planet with all sorts of cretures. In that game, a crystal look like materail was the resource (I believe called mineral in the game). You have a place where you repair your ship and a system of teleports. from the begining teleport, going through it will put you back at the last one you went through. The other ones will put you at the beginning location. Following is one link where you can find more information::

Dark Orbit

I have commpleted the game in its 2 easest settings. After completing the first level, you go to a center location and then have a choice to go to 2 different locations. After either one you go to that center location. When you have gotten what you need, you would then be able to go to the finnal location. In the game, you character will speak at certain times. After exiting from the beginning level, you would be able to go back, but you would not need to.

Yeah I played it a couple of days ago and it had a lot of functions then it was a reslly goo game. Well I might say that because I love killing anything and robots are kinda cool. I think that it is really col to have so many things like a shop in the first version.
Yeah well I have been reading the post and obviously I have the same views on this game as all (or most I only skimmed) the members who posted so great work.

The enemies are not fully made yet however there is one in the starting level for testing purposes.

Very good game !
It is just the start, I know, but I can already tell it has got great potential.
I liked that you can just roam around and do whatever you want - look for money, fight, play minigame... really cool.

i also played your game before it was a topic...... and i think it is a great start to a great game!!! i think a new thing you should put in is some more realisim on the space ship that you drive like when you turn you slip a bit or something like that.

Yeah that is cool the sliding
however this is a fact with cars on higher speed but because of spaceships flying I don't know if I will do this
also I have seen games (like the asteroids example)that you just slide to much so you need to turn and press up again to slow down but I didn't wanted that so I left it like this
however I will make the code for it and try it I think a little slide will make it cool (I am adding particle effects and all for the engines but I am verry bad with particles (never done it :P) so help is apreciated )

ow and I just installed gmaker 5.3 but I don't know how to find my key in the registery (key of 5.2)

Good start Tarik ^_^ Very cool, reminds me of SunRider. B)

If I had to choose two improvements, I'd say make it faster and add a better space background.

News: I designed the radar even better, put in a message system and better a.i
a.i is now capable of flying away with low health while shooting rockets !
and just normal coming towards you when you are close.
I will be working on mining when I can get my hands on some good rotating rocks !

Edit : new news on the credits, Heretik is the maker of the radar script and after bug fixing wich were created during modifing the radar works perfect without lag now ^_^.

i think there is a little bug in the second spacecraft het shoots like
this .. and i think its better if its this ..
its looks further very nice ^_^

Hi
Well I am working for 5 days on Space Velocity so I haven't got the time to add or find some background music but I am on it ;)

and the second part I hate myself I am from holland so I was wandering if I could give the text to somebody who wants to fix it all because I am not from england or the usa

well for the challenge or to laugh :P or to read it (tell me what you think)here it is

The year is 3055.
The earth is no longer the place where humans live.
It is space now.

As the technoligy grew the humans wanted to explore.
So they began a project called Space 1011.
It was a project that started slow and with serveral problems,but it created 17 spaceships that entered space.

The spaceships came back after 3 months the story was .....

There was life.
More projects started by rich people.
Later on normal people started exploring space to.
After some years the spaceships were so advanced they could enter a new ..... Unknown

After that all development went faster.
they found more in space such as the valuable metal and that other creatures excisted.
most creatures were friendly but some were not.
The best part was that the technoligy was huge.
Within days we could understand eachother via a invention made by them.

But some were not friendly.
You are here to destroy the non-friendly and raise your spaceship to the maximum on your yourney,so that when you get back we can study the new ship parts and systems.

Considering the small amount of development time, this game is pretty damn amazing.

alot of stuff in here, and alot of things happening to keep you entertained.

I won't bother saying things like graphics could use an improvement, because although that's true, because the WHOLE game has the same graphical feel, after about 1/2 an hour of playing, it all fits in, and seems perfectly fine!

keep at this one mate, and remember I'm always here for ya!

Nice game i like it very much.


make the area a little more larger so you can fly far away to pluto venus etc...
and add more items to buy like a protection shield , and maybe even add more ships so you can buy a new ship. ;) :P :P :o :) ;)

yeah that is cool I was thinking about the sheilds and stuff BUT that is all in progress

Look at the picture of the worlds
as you can see I made some sprites and these worlds can be entered soon
you can't Hyperjump to them yet but this will be soon in-game :P

And when you enter new worlds new things will be added
new weapons and also mines shealds health packs and stuff

and the main world is small that is because there are many other worlds in progress.

Remember this is just a wip and it is made in 5 days so thats why many things are not yet made such as the ones you named

this is because I need to fix the Hyperjumping to a fully non bug system so our Spaceship can Jump to other worlds
then after that I will add things in those worlds such as enemies

The enemy at the start is just a test to give you a piece of the big Coockie :P :P

Remember I am not suepr advanced (3 months gmaker)So The A.I will be hard to and the ID's and stuff

I have the super advanced templargfx but he is a little bit to advanced hehe :P

Soon maybe tommorow the NEW Demo is up With the secret function ;)

Just another thing I could use some spriting plus if anyone has got some good tips on Enemy AI because I will add much in the 3 demo on enemies (hard :D)
