KAROSHI 2.0

:GM066: Introductory

Each level is different but the goal is the same: Kill yourself.

:GM073: Core Information

Title: Karoshi 2.0
Genre/Category: Puzzle / Platform
Download Size: 9 mb
Game File-Type: Stand-Alone Executable
Resolution: Fullscreen (can be changed in menu)
Current Version: v1
Written In: :GM063: Registered

:GM073: Game Description

Karoshi 2.0 is more of what the first game already offered, but the puzzles this time are much more about different/unusual solutions then they are about shoving crates. I must say I'm very happy with the game, and it includes some really clever puzzles (esspecially the final few levels).

Complaints about Karoshi 1 were that the graphics weren't always that great, and that the game was too short. The sequel has a lot more levels (and is actually even longer than you think...) and I've done my best this time to make sure the presentation is great and that all graphics fit together.

Features:
- 42 levels
- Boss sequence that is well... I don't want to spoil it.
- Level editor (12 custom levels included too)
- Karoshi 1 speedrun mode

Level editor

The level editor is very easy and straight forward to use, and levels can be saved as .lvl files. You can also copy the code and post it on the forums, and other people can paste that into the game.

Karoshi 1 Speedrun mode

I noticed replaying Karoshi 1 was pretty fun, and many other people liked that too. Therefore, I included this mode, in which you have seven minutes (yes, a hint at Virtanen's game) to complete all levels. You can even try to beat my score (which is 2:04 time left).

Update: tjp7154 has beaten my record with 2:41 left, a difference of 37 seconds! Amazing. He even made a nice vid of it.

Watch and learn:

:P Final Comments

Have fun, and please let me know what you think. : )

Also, if you haven't played Karoshi 1 yet, you can find the topic here.
However, it is not necessary to have played it before you start Karoshi 2.0. (Unless you play the speedrun mode perhaps).

Because I know people will ask:
"Karoshi" is japanese and means "death from overwork".
"mo-ichi-do" means "one more time".

If you get really stuck, you can find a walkthrough on IndieFAQS.

Can you fix the link to your webpage, I can't download from YYG. Always that "Download Session Has Expired".

Edit: Thank you for fixing the link. Will edit after playing.

Eh, I'll try it, the first one was fun. Kinda easy though.
Much harder than the last. Stuck on level 4. I'll have to toy around with this tomorrow. Cool game though.

Edit: As with the last one, this is great!
10/10!!

Eh, I'll try it, the first one was fun. Kinda easy though.

I like this a bit better than the first. I'm glad you got rid of those blood splashes; they kind of cluttered the screen a bit. I'm stuck on level 14. 12 and 13 were funny, and I especially liked level 5. :P

I did not like the music that consisted of one note. ;) The other music was fine, though.

Overall, this is very imaginative, much more so than most puzzle games of this genre. What a great game!

EDIT 2: Apparently I haven't beat it... Anybody know how to do the black and white level?

I'm sure it's blatantly obvious, but I can't seem to beat level 17. It's the red and black one with shapes under the switches.
Anyway, nice game. I liked the original, too. Good job on including puzzles that are a bit more out there!

I did not like the music that consisted of one note. :P The other music was fine, though.

I like the track a lot, but I included the music from Karoshi 1 for people who don't, esspecially since I haven't heard anyone complain about Karoshi 1's music. And the third "music" option I included... uh well...

You are the greatest Developer ever. I loved the first one, and this is AWESOME!!!11!!one!!

OMG thanks!

;)
100009/10

Highest rating I ever got.

EDIT 2: Apparently I haven't beat it... Anybody know how to do the black and white level?

It never ends...

Cant finish 48, dont have a music CD. >.<

Unless thats not how you do it..

Um yeah... I expected everyone to still have one of these... >_> I'll try to think of a good workaround for people who don't.

EDIT: You can download a non-cd version here. Put your old savefile int he same folder and you can continue where you left off.

It freezez right after I choose what level to do.

Really? It may be that it loads in the music but that shouldn't take longer than a second.

Any hint for the "What's on the today?" level ?

you left out the most important word. It says "what's on the menu today?".

How do you get past level 39?

Try to look for a block that has a red pixel on it. (I know, that's a rather stupid solution, but I wanted people to press Q).

My Level:

ccccccccccccccccccccaaafgdauaapaaaaacdcaaaacccccaa
aaaaaacecaaatcaaaacaaaaaaacccaaaccaaaacaaaaaaaaaaa

aacaaaacafaaaaaaaaacaacaaaacaaaaaaaaaaaauadacaacaa
a
aaaaaaaaccchccaacfaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaacaaaaaaaaaaaii
i
eiiiicaqaaabaaaamccccccccccccccccccccaaaaaaaaaaaaa
a
aaaaaa

Nice. Though very easy. I noticed just copy and pasting this code doesn't work, because it only takes the first row. Kind of a bummer. In order to play it I had to first make it into one "sentence".

can someone plz tell me how to beat lvl 4 !!!!!

There are 4 crates, and as you can see only the 3rd one can crush you if it falls down.

Pros
- More difficult (a good thing)
- More levels
- Better font and overall graphics

Cons
- Can't think of any really
