:GM044: Introduction

Cronotek TDS-Engine is a flexible and easy-to-use engine for creating Top-Down Shooter games. About 95% of the code is done using Drag+Drop commands, making it very friendly to new users. The engine includes 3 fully playable missions right from the get-go, allowing the user to easily identify how everything works.

:GM023: Features

* Fully commented code so you don't get lost.

* Weapon Database for easy editing of new and existing weapons.

* Weapon swap and knife features.

* Mission system with saving and loading games.

* Dummy bullet system for giving weapons additional properties.
(ex. rocket launcher smoke trail + explosion)

* Intelligent enemies that obey Line of Sight rules.

* and much more!

:GM071: NOTE: This engine requires a registered version of Game Maker 7 :GM7: or Game Maker 8 :GM8:

If you use this engine for your game, credit is appreciated but not required.
However do NOT post the source code as your own. This is plagiarism, and I will report it.

Thanks for reading, and enjoy the engine!

Surely the best open-source tds engine around here, but many people prefer code instead of D&D: I suggest you to make a code only version.
I think there is a bug: sometimes sounds don't start.

BTW where did you get the sprites ?

If you could make a GML version instead of D&D it would be great...

Thanks for the great comments guys! :P

To answer your questions:

- This engine is coded in D&D because it's supposed to be easier to use. I guess some experts would like GML better, but those guys would probably be making thier own engines anyhow  . If anyone wants to take my engine and convert it into GML, by all means go right ahead! B)

- I never noticed and sound bugs, are you able to reproduce them?

- Sprites are a mix of original and very heavily modified sprites found on the internet.

Any more feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'de just like to point out that the G3 in Real Life is automatic, not Semi-Automatic. My advice: Don't base the weapons off of Call of Duty 4

Anyways, this is a nice, solid engine. I am thinking I'll screw around with it while I'm not working on my current project, and I'll see what I can make :P

Well, Is there a reason you cant make your engine into GML. If ther is tell us...becasue if we make our own we can say it's ours by having coding it ourselves.

I apologize for the lack of GML in the engine :(

I built the engine on D&D because I wanted it to be easier for those who are newer to Game Maker. Also, I wasn't able to make the engine on GM6 because I am running on Windows Vista.

If anyone wants to make a GML or GM6 version of this engine, please feel free to! Thanks for all your wonderful comments, and I hope to see some great TDS games built on my engine! B)

Why does everyone's source code always look better than ones own? Even in d&d...

Hehe thanks =)
It's good to see at least 1 person liking the D&D in the engine.

Also if anyone would like me to make them new gun sprites and icons (for the menu selection), please PM me! I would be more than happy to help you out. B)

Sweet! 10/10 but it would be better if it was in code. And I tried to convert this to gm6 but my computer froze.

Thanks for the comments! :P

Ehsteve, you need to set the mission objectives for each new mission you add. You can find the code under man_sp (the main character), under the End Step event. Hope that helps!
