Looks sick man, if only I could read it on a browser...

Edit: Website is not availble please insert valid website =P

Anyway, I liked the cover page. Well Done either way!

Format was a bit messy at some parts and sometimes hard to find your place in such.... however, the keywords were a good idea.. and I thought that was kind of cool...

Anyway, I hope that you continue working on it and you clean up the template a bit other then that good job! the interview thing was nice, it was overall a good read,

hoping for the next issue =P

Shouldn't this be in Web Site Announcements? I know it's a magazine, but usually these sorts of things don't go in the Community forum. Anyway, I didn't have a chance to look at the magazine itself, but I can comment on the website.

Firstly, I like the logo. It isn't over bearing or distracting, and ads a little bit of quality to a site. Secondly, the main body is a little plain. There should probably be images for the sides of the page content. Thirdly, the first news post basically repeats what the main header says. I would remove this bit: "Hello and welcome to Gamemaker Magazines homepage. Welcome to the Official site of the Game Maker Magazine." As for the "Download an Issue" page, you should probably just change the name to Downloads, or something along that line. You should also host the files on your own server. The first issue is dated "February", so I assume you release a monthly issue? If so, you should probably say this somewhere. And as for the "Submit" page, you should probably change that to "Contact" or "About". I would also not recommend putting you personal email down, but setting an email account up to use with your website and have that forward to your personal email. If it gets to spammy, you can then easily remove it and have no problem.

Hope I suggested something you can use. =)

Using the logo in a publication may have prompted some credit maybe?

Musta taken a lot of creativity to come up with the name Gamemaker Magazine. /sarcasm

Put a bit more thought into it. Come up with something catchy and nice

You need to host it with more than just mediafire. It doesn't cooperate well with my computer, so I'm sure the same happens to others. Try willhostforfood. The layout of the magazine could use some improvement, as well.

And, what kind of a word search would you call the one in the mag?

The small image is my logo, the larger one yours.
You have obviously messed slightly with the colours (or the pdf messed with the palleting), but that does not make it your own image.
Don't get me wrong, I like people using my work. I just like credit as well. I don't appreciate others claiming that my work is their own.

Would you like to take back what you sent to me via pm?

Hello scotley
what do you mean you made the logo?
i made it, not you, so dont lie.

Well, for a first, it's not bad, a lot better than most GM Magazine wannabes.

Pros:
Decent amount of GM content for the first issue
The layout was ok too
There was actually a good amount to read
The icons and such were good

Cons:
Could use a lot more GM Content
Please, if its a GM magazine, keep it GM only
The layout could be a bit neater
The WordSearch had no words in it, it was blank (For me at least)
The comic was...kind of crappy =\
There were some typos and such
Some of the icons looked bad, like the smiley one that looked crushed
It was kind of short

Again, for a first, it's pretty decent, and I would read another issue no problem, but I suggest recruiting people to help you to make it better and to fix some of those "cons" but other than that, good job.

Yer right now I'm working on issue 2 so if anyone else wants to help go a head just PM me, But i also thourght that it wasent that great but issue two looks like a completely different magazine, but every magazine has to start out some where.
I added the Empire Earth Artical because i thourght that some people might like to read it. if you think that some of the fonts suck well that is not my fult the converter dident have any of the fonts i used, so it did its best.

Any way Issue two should be done some where in march if go's as smothly as the first, but with less work with setting up.

Thank you to all the supporting people.

Interesting and good for the most part except the background on each page made some of the text hard to read and it seemed generally cluttered. The review page shows these flaws the most. Otherwise it was good!

There will be a complete rewrite of Gamemaker
in C++, which includes all of the external
programs needed to run it (ex. DirectX).

Wow, they're re-writing DirectX in C++? I didn't even know YoYo was a part of Microsoft... ^_^

Well i think that it is a very nice magazine for the first issue, although there are a few spelling mistakes here and there and what not. and you should also keep the content more GM like some other users have said but I did like the cover and the little map like thing with the -'s as sort of directorys and maybe the layout could do with some work, but overall a pretty good start, i hope Gamemaker Magazine goes far.
i give it a 7/10, because it is a first issue.

Hello every one,
Right now I have written and done as much as i think is satisfactory for myself and the other users+, but I am still waiting on the Interviews to be finished then i will need a converter so that I can convert the source file into a PDF, which I'm having some truble finding one that gets what i want done, which is:
-PDF pages are the same size as the Sources page size
-Can convert with NO image errors or malfunction
-does not substitute fonts for its own

some of the ones that i have downloaded have done some of thoughts things but not the other. :P
so it is getting very frustrating, so if any body could help.....(*hint hint*) i would be very great full and i will give you an entire page for advertising or what ever you want (with in reason of course).

Thanks,
Mattthew_H

You need a better typo-searcher. There are about 30-40 typos in the first four pages! (including front page) You even have typo's on names (both people and games). Thats a big no-no.

Also, I didnt know FredFredrickson was a monitor. :P

The articles I've read so far are also poor-written. I mean, in the "How to make a game that sells"-article, you are giving no advice at all! Basically, it says: "Make the code first. Then the graphics. Now make the sounds."

I wouldn't take this magazine seriously.

Other than that, I can see that youve put a whole lot of effort into making it. Good work.

From the first article on page 3, paragraph 1.

This is impossible to read. Your paragraph is a single sentence approaching 300 words. The spelling errors scattered liberally through out the magazine, poor use of punctuation and grammar, contributes further to the unreadability. Completely wrong words are often used, leaving the reader to guess what the sentence really means.

You plagiarized the Game Maker History, without attribution.

I know you are working hard, but you simply do not have the writing skills, to be creating a magazine. It's unreadable.

Hello and welcome two issue two of Gamemaker
Magazine, we are now officially where other magazines
have left there work or haven't even got past issue one
well I have made a promises to you that there will be an
issue three so that we will have gotten further than most
other Gamemaker magazines have, but then after that
there is the fifth issue milestone, well I’m not going to
promises anything but that is where some magazines
have left it so I’m not sure if I will get there but with some
of the support I’m getting from some of the members, I
think that I should be able to make it to issue 6 at lest
and if you where wounding if any one was helping with
the magazine so far, well here is what I have for issue
03, I have a web master, a tutorial Witter, spelling error
checker but no actual content writers apart from a tutorial
writer (issue 03+), what I need is, researchers, layout
designers, reviewers or any of that but I do have me and
others, which if I can make it through issue 03 well then I
have done my goal for this magazine so far, but I guess
my real goal for this magazine is for it to really run by its
self with about 10 people+ working on it, with all
thought's people I don’t have and really I guess I want it
to be more like the other Gamemaker Magazines but
with me doing less work because if you are going
through high school with around 5 pieces of homework a
week it can get frustrating when you are trying to make
two groups happy, but can only do one, but now I will get
on to some more stuff as I may be boring you, well I have
put a lot of work into this Issue with 3 reviews for new hot
games, more than 5 different articles/editorials, two
interviews, a working word search  and one tutorial
plus more.

If the Bible truly is inspired by God, you would think that somebody as omnipotent and all-knowing would have known to get his message out using TCP instead of UDP.

Well, it's a lot better than the first one, but still needs a lot of work, especially typos. I suggest having someone proof read ALL of it manually to catch these. I'd also like to see a bit more content. :P

Hay everyone, I have been working on GMM for a bit tonight (about 1 and a half hours or 2) and i was thinking, I am only writing things that i would read or want to write.
So i thourght that maybe some of you had any suggestions or things that they'd like to read in issue 3?
Don't be afraid to ask, I'm up for anything at this point of development where I'm witting the most out of everything.

thanks,

I am now the editor of the magazine, so expect better things to come. Although, Matthew_H is still doing it too.

Not a bad read.

I'm not so caught up on the typos as the others are however .. I could care less if you spelled a word wrong or if you used a run-on sentence.

Maybe for issue 3, you should ditch the idea of trying to give pointers in game maker, seeing as how none of that info could've helped anybody anyways, and focus more on the interviews and reviews.

bannana:
Yeah, for Issue 3, there is a better skin and there is more detailed in depth content. I'll get some more reviews done seen as everybody wants reviews.

swoodplaya:
There will be no typos in Issue 3 anyway. We now have a proofreader. We've tried to put better info in the mag that could be helpful. We haven't done many reviews, so I'll have to do some more before the release.

By the way, Issue 3 should be released in approximately 10 days.

:GM123: Well, it's definitely something. I can appreciate the effort put into such a long publication, but I'm really hoping in the future that you're going to focus more on quality than quantity. As has already been pointed out, there's a lot of stuff in this magazine either you really don't seem to have a clue about or is just complete bloat (why are you giving advice on making a game that sells when you have no experience in that field?). The constant misspellings, sentence fragments, and total lack of direction in your writing pretty much makes it unreadable. Sorry, but I tend to expect a "magazine" to contain at least a comprehensible level of writing.
