Description
An epic top down shooter in winterly Russia. Follow the story of Grigori and help him overthrow the evil government.
Created by Leslie Bicker Caarten, Jelle van den Hooff & Doeke de Wolf, with voice acting from our personal Russian Arik Beremzon.

The game features lighting, line of sight, scripted events, advanced artificial intelligence, a lot of special effects, dynamic health regeneration and a helpful checkpoint system.

About
Grigori's Tale is an entry in the first yoyogames competition, built from the ground up in ten days. It may have some rough edges, but it should still be a fun game.
:P was used to make the game, and 4 surfaces are used. A fast pc is nice, but even slower ones are able to play the game fine.

Instant play now works!

Extra info
Use F4 to make the game fullscreen, it plays a whole lot nicer if you don't constantly click outside the window :P

If there is a lot of interest, I might publish the source; however, I'd advise against looking at it, since last-minute bug fixes are quite nasty :GM028:.

Comments and constructive criticism are greatly appreciated!!

good graphics, unfortunately i found that to be the best part of the game as i was expecting more just from first glance

i find the gameplay very repetitive, its just shoot one guy after another, and the bad guys really look all the same(even if it is top down)

let me blow up a barrel, let me grab another weapon

i liked the red haze though, very well done with that

Thanks for playing!

I guess it shows only 10 days were available.. However, the gameplay becomes more tactical as you get further in the game. The enemies do look a bit repetitive, yes, but it never really bothered me. As far as I know, most other shooters don't have very different enemies (except for TF2, but that's another league).

Picking up weapons was a to-do, but it is possible to switch between weapons (see the load screen, press 1 & 2).

Hope others may find it more enjoyable :) And of course, a small review over at yoyogames would be very much appreciated.

wow this is pretty cool game. actually it's the best completed gm TDS i've played. i like the idea of voice acting. well, it wouldn't be anything special in commercial games, but it really does sound cool in gm game. :) also, graphics were nice, sounds fit, but i missed some ambient sounds-winter breeze, maybe some dog barking in the city, something like that. overall it's okay game and i like it.
