Yesterday I took this game to a friend to show this as a game I liked a lot and to show what is also possible in GM. It's a great game, with a great movement engine and solid game play. The music is also very fitting and the sound effects with echo are cool. And the graphics looked just like the commercial games from a few years ago. I like the switching between attack and unfreeze. Only thing I found a bit incorrect is the fact that a level gets easier as you progress, because when you have more Mubblies following you, you can kill Frozzd much quicker.
While playing at a friend, I did notice a few things.
- When you are in the menu the first time and don't see that you need to use the mouse, and the mouse happens to be below the window, the menu (and world overview) scrolls down and then all the buttons are gone. One may think this is an animation that should be that way. I think you should make the menu not scroll outside the region of planes you can actually reach.
- The guy who played asked "what to do now" on entering the Mubbly planet for the first time because nothing hints at anything.
- I had to remind the guy who played to "menu is mouse controlled" at least once.
But these are all minor issues, I didn't notice when I played at home by myself. The only thing I didn't like was
- I thought it was too short, I wish it was longer
because I was disappointed when I saw that there were only 12 or so levels. I want to play more
When I played all levels, only one or two were not perfect, so when the game was completed, it was even almost "perfectly completed". Anyhow, the boss was not very hard, and in that level, because you have so many Mubblies follow you, it is a bit buggy because some of them will get stuck into each other. Maybe you could change that to for example a limit of 40 Mubblies going into this level (because not all of them fit in your space craft?)
But, a great game anyway! Too bad I have every level perfect already ...
