Hey guys,

I finally completed my contest entry, and I would like to invite you to give it a romp.

Take on the role of the King's Astronomer as he investigates the strange crash site of a comet he has been tracking.

Help him to stop the alien winter from spreading across the land!

How do you get that PLAY ONLINE thing to come up in Yoyogames.com? I've never really messed with the site till today.

You have to download some codec of sorts.

Good game by the way. Not as good as Chubigans Christmas Solstice, but still of high quality. Great job.

Well, I got it working. I appreciate the advice.

I definitely think winter solstice is a pretty rad game and if it wins I neither be shocked nor saddened.

Mmm I've had a ticket at yoyogames for about 2months, another ticket asking if they even got my reply for 1month now..

This happened to me once too. I remember resubmitting the game, and it would be fine after that.

I put the mirror up, and I resubmitted my entry. Thanks for your advice guys! This is the first game I have put on Yoyogames, and I see that I had better be sure it is PERFECT before posting there.

Hey man,

Deadheat had a great fix for that problem:

I actually found out the same thing when I was working on a few low res games that got scaled up. I find that if you actually make the view port an extra pixel or one less pixel, it actually gets rid of the tile problem. In mission extreme for example, i have the view set to w-213 and h-160 and the port on screen is w-639 and h-480 and i set the resolution to 640x480 and it works fine  Smiley I think...

I appreciate the help! Sword Fighter will be finished in another month or two. More likely two.

Hey, how'd you get the MIDIs to loop without a pause?

Actually these aren't midis my friend. The are Mod files.

Look up jmod.dll in the dlls forum. It's what you will need to play the mod files. It requires a bit more work to get it working in a game, but the tunes are small and sound a lot better because they are made using sound samples instead of sounds created by the midi device.

Great game! I figured they were mod music because they sounded like a Seiklus tune.

The graphics where great! I think the font should suit the game a bit better though (the alpha channel font looks weird against it's pixel art friend). Maybe something a bit more... blocky? (or a rock style font? dafont.com)

The gameplay was good, though sometimes the moving of snowballs became a bit... troublesome. They were hard to control, though it's hard to fix with only 8 directional movement. Maybe make it so you can turn the snow ball your self?

I found a slight glitch. I hit the crap out of an enemy and it got stuck in a wall. I could still kill it, so it didn't matter much.

When did you get that error? That doesn't sound like any of the rooms or objects used in this game... hmmmm

Thanks for playing. I'll take a look at the enemy get stuck in a wall. VERY happy that you could still kill it so it's not a show stopper as much as it is a ugly bug.

I think another font will spruce it up a good bit. I may add that after the contest is over! For now, I think I am out of time to do any major changes.

I was able to fix the Yoyogames link by deleting the old entry and reuploading.

Can't download, but I'll keep trying. For me, when I click download, it just goes right back to the first page describing the game.....

That is very strange. I wonder, are you able to play any other GM7 games that use surfaces? No one else has had this error, and that is a very strange one indeed. It seems to be internal to GM7 since I do not use that naming convention at all.

I played this and it was pretty good buttt... repetitive. And I got to this one level.. I had to hit a snowball down a certain amount and hit the enemy and fill in the spawnpoint (with that one). Ehh yeah.. then I had a snowball and I had to hit for enemies and fill in their spawn.. yeah still not gonna happen. Then I had to hit another into 2 enemies and their 2 spawns (right next to eachother)... yeah still not gonna happen o_o

The zip file ends with '1_2'; the executable inside is just 1. Is there a v1.2?

Anyway, I like this a lot. The falling snow; the ice...the graphics as a whole. Adding gamepad support is always welcome.

Good game and added to my enjoyment this holiday.

I thought, at first, that when I hit a snowball it would get LARGER as is rolled, and then get smaller when it hits the enemy, but it's fine as it is.

Grated topping, the version you have is right. I went through it real quick to make sure it played till the end.

Yeah, the snowballs have to get smaller or it would ruin the gameplay. There would be no need to make bigger snow balls and they would never go away.

I found a bug (it looks like a surface bug). Sometimes when i press continue game from the start menu the snow starts out looking like random noise but then is fixed after i die a few times.

I don't find it fair Darthlupi entering. All of his games are flawless and he is a master at GM period. Nah, well... actually, he pretty much is. Good luck with the entry. I'd love to participate but it ends tomorrow and I have nothing... =(
