Simple and easy to understand... I like it. Some more animation would be good... but I can add that. 10/10.

Thanks for the replies, took me about 20mins of tweaking the water to get it right for my platformer, then i figured later id have a go at writing a tutorial, so i chose it. I put alot of work into that platformer to make it look good but unfortunately the movement in it is a bit bugged. But atm im working on adding things like buoyancy to make objects that would be lighter float, for example barrels, but im not having much luck. Ill keep yas posted. THanks again

Nice! I liked the alpha stuff!
Would a good idea be setting the buoyancy as a variable in create, and using things like check if it is under 0.3, 0ver 0.31, so on and so forth. And the speed it sinks depends on a variable like weight.

Very nice, maybe you could add distortion to the objects that are in it.
That can be done with surfaces and it isn't very hard.

That's pretty neat. Pretty simple to understand too-- even for me. XD

Though, any chance for a "splash" when an object collides with the water?

The coding for this was, well, it was alright, you could've made this in a much easier way, but the use of that function, sprite_get_alpha_from_sprite(), that was pretty nice. The effect was very beautiful, so I'm most likely keeping this and seeing if I can make this better, myself. This achieved the desired effect, easily, though, and I congradulate you on a very nice and pretty example. Good job. :)

I don't think it's going to happen.
