![]() Info: Hex Ball is a platformer in which you play as a ball that explores many different levels of many different worlds, while collecting GloBalls which you can use to light up Shadow Rods. With the Shadow Rod lit for that room, you can use special abilities that let you do strange things. The uniquness of the game comes in it's control system, which is completey mouse controlled. New features in v3: Hey everyone, It's been awhile...a long while...ok a REALLY long while, but I have finished off v3 of Hex Ball. It features the much-requested full screen, a new world to explore, a new ability, several ability upgrades, a different save system(doesn't save between rooms anymore, it got to clunky when it had to save alot), and some pretty great music by Noir. Those are the main high points so just download it and play it for yourself. -Water -Lava -New ability (Heat) -Air ability upgrade #2 (Float) -Magnet ability upgrade #3 (Magnet Waves) -Heat ability upgrade #1 (Spike Melt) -New world (World 3) -Sounds (Only 2....Globall, magnet track) -Music ("Hollowness" by Noir) -Changed the save system -Fixed a few minor object placing issues -Other stuff that I can't remember because I've been working on this version since January... Screenshots:(old) [1] [2] [3] [4] Download(Music): (Host-a) (4.75MB) (SaveFile) (4.75MB) Download(No Music): (Host-a) (1.69MB) (SaveFile) (1.69MB) This post has been edited by camieman10: Sep 27 2008, 05:44 AM |

Downloading now, will edit when done.
EDIT: That was WAY too hard, and how do you use the ability's? I got the first shadow rod thing, it was just to hard. This post has been edited by Blaze984089: Nov 24 2007, 10:08 PM |

Ya I might have to tone it down a notch eh?
I just didn't want it to be like some cheap 5 minute demo, I wanted it to be a challenge, if you get used to the controlls it actually doesn't take that long to beat it. I will definately have easier levels in the full game but for now I just wanted to make it challenging. [EDIT] Oh and once you get the Hex's (spinning wheel-looking things) then it tells you how, just hold the left mouse button. This post has been edited by camieman10: Nov 24 2007, 10:16 PM |

Im trying to get to the first hex, but the part before it is impossible (for me) make the platforms bigger.
EDIT: YES! I got the first hex, and the...thing, the thing that lets you use the "launchers" how do you use those any way? This post has been edited by Blaze984089: Nov 24 2007, 11:04 PM |

QUOTE EDIT: That was WAY too hard, and how do you use the ability's? Wow. What a lamo. I like the game. You might want to check your rooms' speeds'. The first room runs like its 60 FPS and the rest at 20 FPS. I like the game. Maybe, with the different worlds part, make the game crazy colorful. The game is really boring looking right now. And there's no sounds. That would make this game great: music and graphics. I'm pretty sure you've got the game play down real good. And for you people who think this game is hard: get off those drugs. This post has been edited by Skarik: Nov 24 2007, 10:36 PM |

@Blaze:
That part is definately one of the hardest parts but still I don't think it should take more than a couple of tries to get it. @Skarik: Can you please not insult people? As for the room speeds they are all the same(60) but I think some rooms might lag a little for some reason. I usually don't put sound or music into my games untill the latter stages of developement. Thanks for the reply! |

That "thing" is supposed to be a chip of some sort....anyway, as of yet the only launchers in the game are in the first level, and you just hold the left mouse button while rolling over them and they shoot you up. They look liike slanted blocks but they are blue.

Great work!
Fabulous game, im convinced that my lamo to best friend (he dont really play different games and he hate Game Maker, h also know i call him lamo sometimes) would probably love it... Im curious how you made the steering... Actually, im curious about the whole game... It is fabulous, fun steering and obtaining a new ability was a really fun little suprise. I like the "boring" (as someone said) graphics, sincew theyre simple and actually makes you focus more on the game (is it only me thinking like that???) Well, great work! Cant wait for downloading the complete verision... How much do thee have left on the game you think? Cant wait, im all excited... |

@Dojan:
Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I kinda like the graphics how they are too, and if you must know, I made the ball go a certan speed based on how far the mouse was away. (eg:hspeed=mouse_x-obj_ball.x) |

Thanks, it is a bit hard, but that was to make the demo challenging. The next one will ease into the difficulty a bit better.

Wow....harsh rating, that's like.....4.2/10 or something......
Anyway I made the slopes so that when you are going right it checks if there is nothing below you to the right(you are on a slope) then instead of just moving you right it moves you right and down. [EDIT] Oh and just to give away some stuff for the next demo this is what I have made so far: -5 different starting screens, it takes you to a random one each time you start the game. -2 new abilities. -Different symbols for the each Hex. And I'm working on more stuff too. This post has been edited by camieman10: Dec 29 2007, 04:13 AM |
