Assuming I helped you out in a questions and answers topic won't you return the favour by helping me with one my coding problems, or recommend some one who can chat to me over pms about helping and how to overcome my obstacles, after all lets just say I did help you or them or many people with similar problems, in that topic.

New Version is released! it includes a few more functions and some bugs have been fixed

I tried this, it was okay but it's very limited to the beginner level... the minimap was a good addition but unnecessary for an RPG game (IMO).

you should add like an inventory system and a shop system... I know there's a lot of examples out there but you should still include it in your whole "easy RPG making" package, another good addition could be that you can add quests to it... eg. letting the user initiate the quest (using boolean for example).

these are just a few suggestions though (so don't flame me)... :( right now it's very limited to the basic level, not many beginners are experienced enough to make a decent game out of it and not many experienced users would use this...

again this is just my opinion... :lol:

other than that, good effort! it's very basic, but does what it's supposed to do! :(

Uhm, Thanks! I think.. lol, Thank you for the great ideas, I was running out, I will start working on the quests, and I am hoping to have a HUGE updait laiter today including Quests and Inventory. I understand where you are coming from when you say

not many beginners are experienced enough to make a decent game out of it and not many experienced users would use this...

this will help save time with the basics when me and my cousin start making our RPG
when is the next update?
btw
how do the draw actions work?
i tried it but my character dissapears and the health bar is black and not the color i chose
the mini map didnt work either
it kept saying unknown variable objarraynum or something like that other than the drawing functions not working properly, it was great and saves lots of time
can some one explain how to use these draw functions

Did you put them in the right sections?
i.e. (Put "create mini-map" action in create event) you can only have 2 obects on that map, and the drawings have to go on a parent... I will release a new example including health and mini-map, update is hopefuly today...
(BTW, good luck with that RPG with ur cousin)

2 tabs, exactly what gmnooby said, cant wait for the inv and shop, out of all these time saving functions (mabye not so much for the players hp but still awesome) i would most badly want the inventory and the shop, i even think they should have been thought of first xD

oh and ill chech just now for unreg compatabiliaty, im on non reg

edit: unless you did this on purpose, the two objects function, whatever it is, does not work in unreg, it eaven has the pro sign on it

oh and you kinda need to put some fore stuff in that second tab cuz the 1st is quite...big... at the moment

i put the drawing events on the parent and gave the parent to my character but it still gives me unknown variable errors
help?
can someone tell me exactly how your supposed to use the draw functions step by step and where to put the D&D icons and how the parent and character should be set up
only one icon takes registered and its the two objects function(what does it do anyway?)

well, unless freygg changed the code (as said before) which he may have, you shouldnt need any parent for the player, just have a diff object for minimap, hp&score/gold/whatever, ect, but i am not sure if he has changed the code, amd i really think it will help people alot freygg, if you uploaded the example you were talking about, then we will know what diffs this has to the gml i use resulting in how to work this lib

Ok, im back after some work on quests and bugs and inventory, I will make another tab, and another example, it might be uploaded today, im not realy sure, just keep checking in, this can only get better and better!

And yes, you can also put the draw functions on a totaly different object after the update im pretty sure, I will post again after the new update, thanks for the positive feed back! ^_^

i like the inventory and quests
i know of another thing you could do is
have an attack and defense and speed variables for the battle
then create a way to create a battle system(like final fantasy 4 advance)and when you attack, it calculates your attack power-enemys defense and it deals damage
a battle system with attack, defense, and speed power that effect how when you attack and the damge done by you or your opponent
did i make sense?

Its fine, your not an idiot, you have to open your game maker7 folder, then open the folder inside it named 'Lib', copy and past the .lib files in to that folder... get it?

there is a typo with the create quest d&d
you just spelled limit wrong(you spelled limet)
just thought you might want to change it :) ;)

i got some suggestions that you could add to this lib

1.add magic attacks to the battle system
2.attack,defense, and speed and health and experienxe points needed go up when you level up 3.have swords,defense items, and speed items that increase stats when you equip them(dont have to change sprite but you can equip them in the inventory screen)
4.have enemys that drop gold(or any other item)

these are just suggestions so you dont have to make what i said.
i will tell you more suggestions when i think of them

did you put in number of objects on the minimap? oh yeah, and freygg, you should have some d&d's that are like: make this object a surrounding on the minimap(not red, but landscape-ish, like green) and a make this object visible on minimap, and a make this object an enemy on minimap(red)/make this object the player on minimap(blue) an special things like cuttable trees, climbable vines ...etc (orange or yeallow, probably in between)

and possibly eaven a if this object is X=so and Y=so from the player, make it unsure of the object on the minimap(black/grey)

after that you may want to enable special objects(as partually stated) from above, but thats your choice :P

after this long but not too hard(i understand gml, just cant make my own scripts :) ) list of things to do, i will rate this a 7.8/10, either still needs improvement, or i am thinking this is going to be a super lib............

For Enemies, Under the Step Event, the "Computer Intelligence" action, the argument "MoveToPlayer" has an error. If you select "When Hes Near" (Which is a typo, it should be "When he's near" with an apostrophe), the enemy actually moves to the player when he's far. Once the player object gets close to the enemy, the enemy stops moving.

If this is just an error on my part, I apologize, but I've looked and can't find anything wrong with the very little code I have. (I really was just testing the enemy AI out!)
