A DDR Styled Game.

Cleefy & I have an idea for a game,
where there is a little person in the corner of the screen and you use the arrow keys to control him/her to the dance moves provided by the arrows on the screen..

Get my drift, its like DDR but you control a little human on the screen, there could be multiplayer involved, tournaments and much more?

Should i go ahead with it?

What's your input on the idea?

Nic Cleefy :D :GM7:

The human doesnt really seem like it would add any gameplay, especially since you will need to pay attention to the arrows and not the dancing guy. Im not saying its a bad Idea, just that it doesnt add much. Some mistakes Ive seen in past GM DDR games are offbeat arrows, and just repeating a pattern of notes over and over through a song(making them completly off beat later in the song). So make sure you alteast dont do those 2 things.

Well, i can only try, should i have visualizations for the backgrounds (Like ones in Media Player/iTunes.) or just plain colors?

I wouldnt mind just plain color, too many things in the background could get distracting, and pull attention away from your little dancing guy as well.

Well actually I've seen it being done some 5 or 6 years ago already. One or two of these japanese flash'es must still be lying somewhere on my harddrive...

Avoid the problems of other DDR's... add a song editor, then call the files into the game. The players use their own songs, then host the files somewhere. Like Stepmania, which defeats the point entirely.

*this is why I hate clone games*

seing as how there already is a dancing human on the screen of DDR.. does that suggest there is an extra one in the top corner?

otherwise it sounds exactly liek DDR. which was a hit game primarily (as far as im concerned) for the dance pad thing. scine yo dont have that id say its liek DDR but with out the fun.

(Hey maybe you could make an Uber Micro trainer and incorperate the keys W,A,S,D then some popular RTS functions like B C G and P. then have bonus things that you have to click on. ;) )

Thanks, Cleefy.

You have a great deal to learn about programming before you can make a rhythm game. Sorry, but you aren't on the right track to making one.
