what does mario have to do with this engine not much but the new preview exe includes goombas which is related to mario sorta? -_-

note this is different than the regular 2.5d engines you ussually see in the gmforums
this is steve kbs 2.5d engine
this is a small 2.5d engine example that gives u the basic 2.5d effects
note 2.5d requires a bit of video memory so dont try this on old comps or u could get stuck when running the program.

link

this is a gmk file 47kb-registered gamemaker required
does not change res

new*modelprevlink
the link above shows a preview of models you can make using the engine
featuring Goombas!! <_<

i will post another more advanced example when I have time to make one.

about the engine
stevekbs 2.5d engine is the process of creating sprites in the direction of the view angle and depending on its height the depth will changes makeing the higher object appear on top then the model object delete them selve so when the viewangle changes the controller objects will put them in the right position.
this examp;e includes some visual effects

controls
left/right=shift view angle

You should have made it as a script, because reading through the
comments is a real pain.

And I would like to see the source of those capability screens.

i am working on a way to use only scripts wich will open many new functions and more variables to manipulate and the possibility to change one sprite instead of making another object for it.
it might even make it possible to use only one object for the sprites creating depth.
thats not to far away so thats what ill figure out next.

as for the capability screens those are screen shots of a work in progress that i will post in a few days.

sorry but I can't seem to get it opened in gm6, I guess I'll make the next one in gm6 then save it as a gm7 file aswell so we don't run into this problem again.

Voxels are 3D pixels that generate 3D models using sprites and depth maps, instead of polyonal models. This technique is rarely used anymore, but it is an easy and efficient way to transform 2D sprites to 3D "models". Go search Metroid Cubed on google for an example of this  .

i dont know about 3d pixel but there are flat sprites on top of each other so i guess they are voxels.

 great big news!!! if figured out a way to create the models using only one object for them instead of making a model object for every controller object you only need one now.
It is now done with scripts so more variables can be twisted :P

i'll upload a version when i get the chance...that means not right now im working on something else. ;)

since theres only one model object is less confusing and more than 95% of the object creating can be done with scripts now
