Latest Information - 16/05/09
Halo Revolution (HR) has finally been updated, after a one year (to the day) wait. We had taken a break on HR and then decided only a few months ago to start up again. We were hard at work, and we got a lot of things polished and added.

Must Read
First Level
The first level has been made simply to show you a 'few' of the new features. It is laggy, and was made very quickly as i was in a rush. To see most of the game (the rest of the features), go to multiplayer and create a game. It doesn't matter if noone joins, you can still see all of the features. Enable forge (in game options) and create objects in forge to check everything out. OR create a map using the map creator, and it will automatically go into the maps list in the game.

DO NOT USE THESE OBJECTS
* Water - Do not place water on your map. It is very laggy, buggy and caused errors where you have to abort the game. It is being 100% remade.
* Vehicles - The only vehicle you can use in multiplayer is the banshee, ONLY because i forgot to disable something and you get an error.

Here's a list of BUGS / GLITCHES and ERRORS that I have fixed for the next version
  • Your correct helmet is now displayed when driving the hornet.
  • When you are killed in a vehicle, you exit it.
  • I have taken out the killing of the guardians.
  • I reprogrammed the order of how things work when you create/join a multiplayer game. It's WAY more efficient now!
  • I reprogrammed CTF with the ID system, works better.
  • Fixed the 'global.weapon3' error message.
  • I have added recoil to weapons, some more then others.
  • Shotguns now do more damage at close range.
  • The mongoose wheels now rotate properly.
  • I have completely finished the banshee in multiplayer. You can enter, exit, hi-jack (100%), shoot both weapons (primary - secondary). The banshee also takes damage from all weapons, including melee attacks and gravity hammer slams, and sword assassins.
  • Made it 'Dual' Wielding instead of 'Duel Wielding'.
  • I have made it easier to use the map Creator. You now fly around the map using A, S, D, W. Q - E scrolls through the objects, and Z - X scroll through the object types.
  • Fixed the scope zooming for weapons. I added the correct zoom amounts (from halo wiki, not sure if it's right though). Also, changing from a sniper rifle (zoomed in) to another weapon changes the zoomed in.
  • Custom controls now work for everything.
  • The melee key can now be changed in custom controls.
  • I added health to the guilty spark, so it now shares the players health. When it dies, your dead body is created like normal.
  • I slowed down the credits so they're readable.
  • Added Glennz to the credits (for that skull).
  • You are now blue if on team blue, and red if on team red (as well as the other players. Before this wasn't happening).
  • Replaced a drawing text script. For the vehicles, turret, teleporters, doors etc, where it says 'Press <SPACE> to do something', it now draws a nice background behind that text (a blue back with a white border), which makes it much easier to read when behind a blue background, and it looks much nicer.
  • Made F2 the quick change button for Entering / Exiting Forge mode.
  • Hold F5 for player variables (the player draw it above them).
  • I did quite a lot of work to make sure hamachi works. Me and Angus have to test it again, and hopefully it will work because i changed quite a lot of how it works.
  • When you're inside the bases in a banshee, it goes inside the building.
  • Zooming In/Out camera system for hopping in large vehicles.
  • I added the spartan laser power up animation.
  • Added the respawning system for vehicles and weapon (so far)
  • You can now drop large weapons (turrets and flame thrower) using the action key (spacebar)
  • Fixed the needler sprites. They now correctly show if you have ammo left or not (for dual wielding and single wielding)
  • Fixed the collision with needler bullets and the shields (bubble, deployable).
  • Fixed the problem with explosives not destroyed when dropped from a height. They now properly blow up if they collide with the ground if they're going too fast (up and down) ///So you can place a gravity lift under one, making it fly up into the underneith of the ground making it explode :GM131:
  • The dummy players (players you see) now draws the second hand (for dual wielding) at the correct position.
  • The gravity lifts now only lift you and everything up if there isn't ground between you and it. Before, you could be on top of the ground, and a gravity lift would be underneith the ground and it woud still lift you up (working on making the effect stop when hitting ground, it goes through ground atm)
  • Gave the hornets bullets/missile proper ID's for damage (they now do damage like every bullet)
  • Shooting the human turret (before ripping it off) shows the shooting animation correctly, instead of a plain white sprite.
  • When you drop your dual wielded weapon, it is thrown in front (so picking up weapons doesn't drop both weapon at the 1 place, allowing you to pick them up seperatly again)
  • Added a cool banshee trail effect.
  • Slayer Completed
  • Team slayer completed
  • CTF Completed
  • Juggernaut Completed
  • Territories Completed
  • Screen shaking now works for windowed and fullscreen modes
  • Your game options/setting are now saved when you log out. Logging in will not reset them to default.
  • Gave the teleporters ID's. You can now right click on them in forge mode, and give them a unique ID from between 1-9. When you use a teleporter, if there's a teleportee with the same ID, it will go to that one. If there is more then 1 teleportee with that same ID, it will go to a random teleportee with that ID. If there are no teleportee's with the same ID as the teleporter, but there are some teleportee's in the room, the ID's will be forgotten and you will be taken to a random teleportee.
  • King of the Hill Completed
  • Territory Icons down the bottom of the screen are now displayed correctly.

ok, ive given it a play about.

youve nailed the grunt image angle stuff, but you gotta make the master chief look a bit more smoother.

Thanks! Yer the spartan graphics are probably the worst, because they're not all that smooth, and plus they dont match the background and other background pics very well. Im glad you like the grunt!

Could you and everyone please answer these 3 questions, as well as your comment.

Did you like driving the warthog?
Did you like using the warthogs turret?
Did you enjoy blowing the warthog up?

Screenshots have been taking, they're being uploading but taken FOREVER!

very nice demo you have here

i really liked the warthog and the way it goes at the angle of the ground but it should be able to run grunts over

Thanks Black-Hawk for trying out the game! Im glad you liked the warthogs physics. Did you try out the turret?

Also i was going to make the warthog be able to run over the grunts and it's like an instant kill, but it's a bit of a cheat if there's heaps of them. :) I just got an idea, i'll make it so that you run into them, and they fall over, and get like a bit of health taken off them! Then they get back up aye, yer i'll do that!

HOLY SWEEEEEEET, good work, I will actually gives this a 10/10 instead of a measly 9/10, whoa, this is great, only thing is, how do i switch between to diff weapons?

only thing is, how do i switch between to diff weapons?

It's in the tutorial, after you pick up the SMG, it says '<Q> and <TAB> Change between your weapons, you can only hold 2 weapons at a time'.

You might have to do the tutorial again, and read it all carefully.

Sorry guys, that blue writing gets hard to read sometimes. It's easy in fullscreen mode 'F4' but then the graphics dont look as good. I will fix that so that it's easy to read in the next version!

hey i just downloaded it and its awesome. i noticed a few things that arent bad just need a little ifxin. you know how you make the head and torso jump to the feet, well make it do that in step, begin step, and end step and so every milisecond it will do that :)(i ended one of my games cuz i couldnt figure that out :GM131: ) otherwise the gun and torso trail along it. okay, this is an easy one, grunts plasma pistol shots should be the same just green. maybe you could do a gun flash, you now the fire that comes out of the gun. can you make it so you can run the grunts over? :D well, keep up the great work.oh and i love how you made the warthog become slanted when moving up the hill. :)

EDIT: oh i found an awesome glitch, if you put a bunch of warthogs right on each other not detroyed and press enter a bunch of times in the driver and the turret part you will have a million master chiefs walking around or riding or firing in the wartogs! XD

I dont think it was that good, really... The spartan looks corny with the legs lagging behind him, and he turns his whole upper body! Also, you have taken the sprites from Halo Zero, which you really should mention. Not sure if its allowed, either...
Also, you shouldnt use a midi - it sounds damn cheesy.
Pump up the volume on the shooting sounds too, can barely hear them.

Other than that, it was nice.

Lol, you gotta work on those master chief sprites. His legs aren't even attached. You can put upperbody.x=whatever and upperbody.y=whatever in the draw event of the legs to make it so they're synched up, though it seems like the upperbody is controlling the legs.

Also, the grunts are too strong. They killed my warthog and my turret guy was still there. The only thing I thought was really good was the way the warthog changed angles according to the angle of the ground. How exactly did you do that? Did you use a tutorial I can find anywhere?

It took way too many pistol shots to kill a grunt, and all parts of the grunt too the same damage (no headshot damage bonus). Also, you seem to have no idea how do make blood special fx. When you shoot stuff bullets dont just dissapear, they should make sparks/blood. Your game is boring because bullets dissapear. The masterchief does not jump high enough, and I think you should make the game more isometric (like Drug Fighters) so that when driving there are 4 directions to go in. And you couldn't run over grunts, but even if you could, there would be no challenge. Also, when on top of a gun you couldn't drive the warthog, warthog should have higher priority. And you are more noobish than a noob, you NEED to make the tab (weapon switch) key a press, not a continuos push you noob.

The graphics are good but not a 10/10 game

Well, I have played the game, I know that Scotty should use some better Master Chief sprites, but he was going to see what people thought of the ones he allready had, so if you want Scotty, try use different spartan sprites, though that does make sprites with warthogs and whatnot a little more difficult, but i could help ;)

GMAKERDUDE - Ok yer i remember doing that in another one of my games and it worked. I will do that thanks. And hopefully in the next version there will be muzzle flashes, and also empty gun shells that drop onto the ground.

Yer i also found this glitch. I will have this fixed in the next version!

Mordi - I credited the guy to really made these sprites, his name and details were on the sprite sheet. And yes halo zero found them in a google search. I agree the midi background sound sounds very lame, but i wanted to keep this beta/demo as small as possible. Also, just turn up your speakers if you want the volume louder lol

WarriorArtiste - No, shooting the grunt in the legs do less damage then shooting them in the body/head. But i am going to do headshots better in the next version.

I have no idea how to make blood?? Yes i do i just havn't put it into the game yet. This is only a beta/demo, and it's number one. Dont come here expecting me to have a fully done halo game with no problems.

No im not making the warthog turn in 4 direction.

Also, when on top of a gun you couldn't drive the warthog, warthog should have higher priority.

Are you serious?? OMG go back to half life! Have you even played a game of halo in your life? I mean seriously? IF YOU'RE ON THE TURRET HOW ARE YOU MEANT TO REACH FORWARD AND DRIVE AT THE SAME TIME? Geez!

Oh and try pressing 'Q', it's the main button to swith weapons. But TAB will be fixed in the next version.

Thanks but remember, this is only demo/beta one, there will be plenty more to come!

Yes, I like the driving
Yes I like the turret
I do enoy blowing up warthog. BUT, when you blow up a hog and then you respawn the effect of fire is still there.

Couple things I wanna say about weapons(constructive critisizm?):
Sniper:
-There are five shots per magazine in this game, only four per magazine in real Halo 2 game
-The rate of fire is a little slow for the sniper.

Battle Rifle:
-When you shoot, in the ammo indicator it says you shot 3 rounds, but you illustrate 5 rounds exiting the barrel instead.

Shotgun:
-There should only be 12 rounds in the shotgun, just like the real game. I believe thats right. Because you currently have 20 rounds.
--Btw, nice job on the spread of the rounds. looks good. Lol, I enjoy running up to a grunt and shotgunning him in the face.

Turret:
-You probably know this, but the sound you use to fire the rounds for the turret is for the SMG.

When the help came and i drove around with the spartan driving and me in the back there were two images of the turret. -One was the actual object that shot. -The other was just part of the sprite of the warthog.

At some parts Master Chief walks slightly too high and looks like hes walking on air kinda. (After the first slope in the tutorial game).

What do you mean about the fire effect with the warthog? And what do you mean when you respawn???

LOL i took a guess with the weapon clips hahaha im glad you've corrected me.
Ok the sniper rifle will have 4 shots, and i will make the rate of fire a little faster.

Yes the battle rifle bullet's need editing. If you watch the bullets all the way (until they exit the screen), you can see that there's 3, but it's because they're going fast it gives your eyes the effect that there's more. I will try and fix this!

Once again i didn't know how many bullets per clip with the shotgun lol

Yer i know the turret has the same sound as the SMG, i'll try find a better one (more powerful one). And the rate of fire is pretty fast i thought. But i will make it faster if you want. I just got an idea, i'll make the rate of fire speed up until it reaches a certain speed, like in halo 2. Like you hold the mouse button, and it starts off slow but gets faster, that will give it a better effect! I will also have a muzzle flash and shells that fall onto the ground!

I will edit my first post and put all those things that you've told me in the 'things for version V.02'

Yer the masks orogin is a little off with the spartan, i'll have that fixed.
What do you mean when you drove around with the spartan driving and you in the back? You can't drive and use the turret at the same time...

...sometimes I might be able to drive 2-3 vehicles at the same time, and while moving from one to the other will spawn more and more of myself.

Alex Muncatchy - Yes thats the glitch has been mentioned before. When you park 2 warthogs in line with each other and press <ENTER>, you hop in both of them. WHen you get out it makes 2 of you. IT will be fixed in the next version!

aeharding - Why would i do that? I had it so that you just hold 'W' to keep jumping, but i took it out. Also, why dont you comment on the game 2, instead of just saying 'Add Space.........'

EVERYONE READ THIS
I have been playing around with the game this morning, to see what the scorpion tank would be like. I managed to get it up and running, and it looks GREAT! There's still some sprite problems, but nothing too big! It goes over slopes no problem, and really looks good! It's split into 2, so that when you park on a slope, the front half is on the slope angle, and the back half is still flat on the flat ground! It will be in the next update!

Yes, I have had a look at the scorpion, and from what I've seen, its pretty freakin awesome, just wait till this game becomes 2 player (over the network) you guys will crave it :)

Thanks 69poomaster69. Yes guys thats right, the scorpion is coming to life!! I gave 69poomaster69 a look at the scorpion physics because he's one of my testers (i'll put them in my first post), and he is happy with it, and so am I.

ALSO i am currently learning online. Im not sure if i'll be able to make this online for a while, but it will hopefully be done in the end. I can already do LAN (check network tanks in my signature) and yer.

I just noticed that the head and arms are clearly seperated, as many other people have said, you need better sprites.

Wow the gfx actually look good and orignal in this one, or at least I havne't seen them before. I was gettin tired of seeing all the ones where they had modified megaman gfx for Master Cheif.

You might really want to work on alignment of all the different parts though. His legs are off by a few pixels, and he doesn't look like he's standing on the ground. And for arms rotating you might also want to work on that. Instead of rotating the whole torso you need to animate the arms moving around. I did it in my game, and it was kindof a pain, but it's possible.

Also some of the guns are a bit off. The pistol should fire faster, and so should the sniper rifle. In the game they fire as fast as you push the trigger. And the shotgun doesn't have a cocking sound. And I'm assuming you're gonna get the actual pistol and rocket launcher sounds?

And reload animations would be nice.... Also have the reloading come automatically, not manually when you run out of ammo.

And... shouldn't grunts die in like 2 or 3 shots of the pistol?

Also, to make the guns not have full ammo when you pick them up, just store how much ammo is in them when they are dropped.

well mordi im sorry you did not belive me about the sprites but anyways in the next version the grunt needs to miss a little more and be less strong and less fast.


EDIT: also scotty when you multiply the chiefs you can get them in the same vehicle as you!

Noxus 322 - yer masterchief graphics is the let down at the moment. But easy to fix. Plus this is only release one of the beta/demo. Thanks!

Potnop - Thanks yer i got a really good sprite sheet. And with the body parts, im not sure if all you people know but there's only 2 body parts for the masterchief. The legs, and the torso. The way it works is that the torso faces the mouse while holding a gun, because the gun still points towards the aimer, but it also looks like he's aiming it up with his eye. I miight make the arms seperate but that might be a last thing.

Ok i will make the pistol faster, and i've already maken the sniper rifle a little bit faster. When you play on x-box or PC, the sniper rifle doesn't shoot every click. It's a little slower. And i will try to get the pistol and rocket launcher sounds. I just have to find them... .. .

I was going to do reloading animations, because i thought that would be cool. I guess i forgot to put them in to this version. Hopefully they'll be in the next update! Ok i'll make the reloading automatic as well.

A couple of people have said that the grunts are too strong. I have to agree with you! On x-box, it only takes a couple of bullets to the head.

Woah nice! I liked the fact that the Hog'm image angle changes to fit the slopes. How'd ya do that? ;)

You need a reloading sound. I don't care if it's the same for every weapon but you need one! You need to touch up the Spartan a bit too.
