The runner in GM6 exes is compressed, making for about 1mb smaller that a gm7 exe. However, vista doesn't like the compression, so the converter just changes it to an uncompressed version. The vista converted exe will still run under XP, it will just be a MB bigger than it was before.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll probably upload 2 .exe's then. so people with Windows XP will have a 1MB smaller file size.

The link seems to be broken. J Yeah I can't reach it too. Pretty annoying since the only one I have registered is GM6. (admitted, it was not legal) Nevermind though. I'm buying GM7 Pro for my new education. (yay, programming at school! Just too bad PayPal is taking ages to transfer money. This post has been edited by yellowsix: Sep 9 2008, 02:47 PM |

You can get the converter here. It appears Yoyo games restructured their site.

hmm.
funny to see that you still use the old GM4 idea, a runner exe and the recources. only now you have the runner + recources compiled into 1 exe.. all you do is change the runner. Its not smart to keep it that way, but its very usefull when you look at it this way. |

QUOTE Will DLLs and other external file reading/writing/loading be affected by converting your GM6 exe for Vista compatability? well not as far as I am aware you see I once did this with a friend when making the first beta release of the dock I am working on but we soon come to realize and after a while and with newer functions wanted and tools to be added we had to make it a .gmk and we didn't loose anything but all of our .gm6 and .gmk file was running smoothly, we had to merge to .gmk for GM7.0 and allow adding newer tools and when I learned I could soon write my own DLL with C++ to make more handier and newer things that the program needs for certain functions I just thought as I learn how I am hopping straight into it, and the dock began rocketing off with amazing things and how there will be some things I cannot do currently because their are no pre existing DLLs for the functions I need so I can give the program more features and things the user can do and a ease of interface in my own custom GUI made with GM we started getting the project on smooth sailing. |
