when i try to run a game with gamemaker 7, no matter how large the game is it takes rediculously long to load. The thing is, when it loads, the computer acts as if nothing is wrong with it except it says it is not responding. When i had gm6 if the game took long to load, the computer would lag or freeze.
I tried to run a 400kb game and it took like 10 minutes. Normally that should take a couple seconds. I also tried running a game that was just one object with no events or spirte, and one empty room. That file couldn't have been more than 3kb and yet it took several minutes to run.
Why is it taking so ridicuously long to run

Must be something wrong with your PC. GM7 games run as fast as they should do here.

Run a .gm6 game in Game Maker 6.1.

Then run the same .gm6 game in Game Maker 7.0.

See if there is a difference.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Is it Vista?
Due to the compression methods of GM6, it is incompatible with Vista.
Mark made a GM6 EXE to GM7 EXE converter.
He posted it somewhere here.

Got Vista? Long load time usually means low RAM memory, but if the comp is new, then it shouldnt be a problem if all your drivers are up to date aswell.

sorry guys to waist ur time, but i seem to have fixed this. For some reason there were 5 game maker things in the processes thing when i opened the windows task manager which made the cpu usgae go to 100% and the computer's phisical memory was at like 80%.
Now it isn't there
but in the mean time u can download AMENDMENT, link in sig. (couldn't hurt to try)

vista is -extremely- mem-abusing. 1 gb of ram is in the absolut minimum limit area. U ought to upgrade with an aditional gb of ram if u want to get decent performance.
If ur pc even has shared graphic (onBoard shared graphic memory) then this recomendation is a must!
