Updated to version 4

Okay, just redownload the link. the link says v3, but its v4. :D
in version 4 there is better collision. 2 players. custom jumping, and a wall collision
event so you wont go flying up the wall :P . enjoy, and give feedback



Has menu functions

This library is a basic lib with functions that are used in ssb melee.
It is
Melee Basics V 0.3
Level Select Implemented :P
Anyway, the features in this include:

Movement: pretty much, dashing, and running, left and right
4 actions to set jump to work
4 actions to set double jump to work
Game pause
2 actions to set up character select. ( gameplay characters must be named like o_char1, o_char2, o_char3, o_char4, and so on
12 character slots
and 3 functions to set up color selection for your sprites
And 11 slots for menu options.
If you use a sprite in your menu, you can use my color options
to dynamically change your sprite colors!!! :D

Give me ideas for version 0.5, because i've run out of ideas





I hope that this helps some of you.
Later i will add a basic physics engine to it, and an attacks engine.
It may take a little while for a good ai engine though. :P

Hey everyone, I released a demo, and If you want or need to use it, you may use it as a engine. Just credit me please, because this engine took more time than i thought it would. Its not great, but it shows how to use sprites as the level. and other things like that.

Also, if you Choose Zero under character select, and level 4 under level select, you can see how to make the bunny ears for gameplay. When you run into the bunny ears. they disappear and zero becomes faster and can jump one more time than before. I also made an alarm so that the bunny ears do go away after like 8 seconds. And zero returns to normal.

Announcement!!!! <_< I might be quitting gamemaker. In other words i might not be able to continue this lib. Im going to try to learn how to code in blitz 3d. I Might give up on it, and just jump back to gamemaker who knows.... :o . But, if i do leave, i will leave This lib to someone else to code. i havent decided who yet. Pm me if your interested.

I will be adding Level Select functions pretty soon too.
There is also a Example with the lib now.

Hey, i need ideas for version 4, i know im going to put in a jump system with variables so that you can state how many times you want jump enabled. But i kind of dont have any other ideas... :(
So, think of an idea you would like in this library, and i will make it. ;)

i am impressed with what you have done with this lib!
10/10. i wanted to make a game like this, and you just made it easer! if you ever need help, just ask me. i have good exp with gml(65%)

@snowpea0, you put the .lib files in your c:\program files\gamemaker_7\lib or whereever you have it installed.

@darkpinoccio Redownload from the link, i re upped it with some bugs fixed, and an example with character select and level select with a menu. btw thanks for the 10/10.

I'll get on it, i had though about it, but i dont know how i could really make 2 player user friendly unless they knew some gml. like setting the controls would be easy if they knew like

if keyboard_check_pressed(ord('A'))
{
        x-=8
}

but you know what, i will definately work on it, because if i can make it multiplayer, im sure a lot more people will like it.

i'm trying to make an ssb game with this lib it's greate but, since my battle rooms is pretty small the speed is too high and it makes it less fun, so if it would be an option about how fast u want it to go i would be very happy

and about the 2player controlls,( at least for me) it's not to hard about the walking, just the triple and dubble jumps

just to let you know: o_char3 doesn't have the "press C" funktion, not "P" either

Found 1 bug, if u go in to an wall press jump (still holds the direction button) u will be able to climb the whole wall.

Crap, um about the wall issue, ideas?. also, Im going to add health variables in, i havent done so yet. i

@darkpinoccio i put in a speed variable that you can alter, and sprite changes for when you press left or right, and the two player controls are going to be left and right for player 1, and 'A' and 'D' for player two. the jump is gonna be up and 'W'. but i dont know how to fix the wall thing, hold up, maybe i can put an if check for the x value too. let me see what i can do. also i added a custom jump scenario so you can set how much to jump :lol:

uh,.....im having a bit of trouble, what would you recommend for the wall problem?


Edit: I found out the problem, and its fixed :lol: . do you want me to just release it, or do you want to wait because i have now added (custom jump, sprite change and walking speed, fixed the bug with the wall, other than that, nothing much. im thinking about incorporating a system to create buttons too.
give me ideas on what to put in this next version

this looks extreamly good but the link is giving my computer download trouble....i'll try later and edit this post but you won't mind if i use this later do you? likr for my purposes just don't get to hyped yet i still have yet to download it :lol:
