Hi :D

I post this message because i'm bored...
I have spend money to get a server (for 3 month), with a fix IP, ...
But the serveur doesn't have any graphic card, and it's the same for the sound !
It's the same for every server i've seen !

So The GM executable can't run on it !
(dispite that i have only 1 object for my server, with no sounds and nothing in the draw event !)

Do you know where could i find a host for my GM'server, but compatible with GM games ?
(sure, it must be a professional thing. Don't offer me your PC as host...)

Thanx a lot.

Buy a gfx card and a sound card and stuff it in your server.

You realize almost all servers you're going to find for rent or commercial are for SQL servers and that kind of stuff, which don't need GFX or Sound cards to bog them down. The kind of thing you're talking about almost has to be a PC because unless you're buying a server, I doubt anybody would let you install new hardware to their servers.

Why would a machine that no one's ever going to look at or listen to need a sound card or a graphics card (which aren't cheap)?

GM shouldn't really be used to write a dedicated server anyway. It's much easier to write a dedicated server in a language like C++ (which will also make the server faster, which is what you want), since the server doesn't really need much beyond what the standard library in C++ provides (besides sockets).

Yourself, do you think GM can work with SQL databases, or are they too different to be able to communicate?

They can be used. Just use 39dll to access PHP, or GmSql (INSECURE)

Well... That's true...
First i was rewritting it in GM5.3a, wich seems to work even if there isn't any graphics card or sound card, but the idea to rewritte it in C doesn't seems too much complicated since there is no graphics at all... And you can also use dll in C (like GM's dll sure) , so that's the better way...
Thanx for the solution...
